Job description

Second Shift: 11am-730pm M-F (Contract to hire)

Environment: Molecular Biology / Bacteria-Based Laboratory

Role Overview

  • Entry-level laboratory position supporting a bacteria-based molecular biology operation.
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing laboratory glassware and equipment used with bacterial cultures.
  • Initial responsibilities will focus on cleaning, restocking, preparing beakers, and general lab support.
  • Role involves repetitive tasks but requires strong attention to detail, consistency, and comfort working in a laboratory environment.
  • Employees will work with raw materials and strong acids/bases, so an understanding of basic laboratory safety is important.
  • Some exposure to strong odors is possible due to the nature of the bacterial processes.

Ideal Candidate

  • High school diploma required; degree is not required.
  • Basic understanding or exposure to Biology or Chemistry preferred.
  • Open to candidates who are relatively new to the laboratory environment and willing to learn.
  • Candidates with backgrounds demonstrating attention to detail, consistency, and comfort with repetitive work can be successful.
  • Strong communication skills are extremely important. The team wants someone who asks questions, communicates clearly, and works safely rather than trying to figure things out independently when unsure.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable following established processes and procedures.

Training & Growth

  • Strong training program provided.
  • Phase 1: Laboratory basics, cleaning, restocking, glassware, and general lab support.
  • Phase 2: Increased responsibility, including buffer preparation and supporting QC activities within the downstream process.
  • There is significant opportunity for career growth and advancement within the organization.
  • The team is open to candidates who are still figuring out their long-term career path and are interested in developing new skills.

Hiring Process

  • Meet-and-greet with the team.
  • Written assessment to evaluate basic knowledge and determine the appropriate starting point.
