Job Description: General Foreman

Location: Fillmore Position Summary

The General Foreman is responsible for leading and coordinating daily production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output. This role supervises production supervisors and frontline teams, drives adherence to schedules, resolves operational issues, and serves as the link between frontline operations and plant leadership. The General Foreman sets expectations, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and provides hands-on leadership to optimize productivity and team performance.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise and coordinate all production shifts to meet daily, weekly, and monthly

goals.

• Ensure execution of the production schedule as specified by the Master Scheduler.

• Review weekly production requirements, confirm material availability, and align

labor resources accordingly.

• Motivate employees to achieve performance targets while fostering a culture of

accountability and respect.

• Lead by example in safety, ensuring all safety procedures and PPE requirements are

followed.

• Maintain accurate employee attendance records and performance data.

• Oversee production and inventory data accuracy, including cycle counting and ERP

system updates.

• Ensure workstation documentation, forms, and reporting are complete and accurate.

• Lead the Maintenance Supervisor and troubleshoot issues related to equipment and

facilities to ensure uninterrupted operations.

• Hold regular departmental meetings to update employees on changes in policies,

procedures, goals, and expectations.

• Lead and coordinate the monthly safety committee meeting.

• Lead and coordinate the monthly quality committee meeting.

• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and logistics to resolve bottlenecks and

optimize plant performance.

• Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Lean, Kaizen, etc.).

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

What You’ll Need

• Proven leadership experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in precast,

construction, or heavy manufacturing.

• Hands-on experience in production processes, equipment troubleshooting, and

workflow optimization.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, instructions, and

repair/assembly operations.

• Experience with ERP systems to manage production demand, orders, and

inventory.

• Cycle counting and inventory management skills.

• Ability to work overtime and shifts, including weekends, as needed.

• Physical capability to:

o Stand and walk up to 12 hours daily.

o Bend/stoop and perform repetitive motions (shoveling, sweeping, fastening)

up to 12 hours daily.

o Lift weights up to 50 lbs. regularly.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead teams under pressure.

• Proven attitude of ownership and initiative to achieve personal and plant

performance goals.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or leadership training

preferred.

Job-Based Accountabilities (JBA) Safety

• Enforce all safety standards, lead monthly safety committee, and ensure

zero tolerance for unsafe behaviors.

• Target: < 2 recordable incidents annually.

Production & Scheduling

• Deliver daily/weekly production targets in alignment with plant schedule.

• Target: ≥ 95% adherence to production plan.

Quality

• Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications.

• Target: ≤ 1% rework/scrap rate.

Team Leadership & Engagement

• Lead production supervisors and teams with clear expectations, coaching,

and accountability.

• Conduct regular crew huddles and departmental meetings.

• Target: Maintain turnover < 10% annually.

Data & Reporting

• Maintain accurate ERP data on production, materials, and inventory.

• Target: ≥ 98% data accuracy.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify and implement process improvements in safety, quality, or efficiency.

• Target: Lead or participate in ≥4 Cl projects annually
