Construction Foreman

Position Summary

The Construction Foreman is responsible for providing hands-on leadership and supervision of production crews within a heavy industrial precast concrete manufacturing environment. This position oversees employees across various production stations and steps in as needed to support daily production needs, fill staffing gaps, and keep operations running safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on concrete experience and previous leadership or supervisory experience. Precast experience is not required; however, the candidate must have a solid understanding of concrete placement, forming, casting, finishing, curing, and common concrete defects. The Construction Foreman must be comfortable working alongside crews, providing direction and training, identifying quality issues, and ensuring employees follow all safety and production requirements.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands concrete, knows how to lead a crew, and is willing to step in wherever needed to support production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead production crews at assigned stations based on daily production needs
  • Move between production stations as needed to fill staffing gaps and maintain production flow
  • Lead crews through daily concrete production activities, including placing, forming, casting, finishing, and curing
  • Assign daily work and provide clear direction to employees regarding production expectations
  • Monitor production activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established quality standards
  • Inspect work throughout the production process and identify quality issues before they result in rejected or defective product
  • Communicate production concerns, quality issues, staffing needs, equipment problems, and other operational issues to the Production Manager
  • Maintain accurate production logs and communicate daily production status to management
  • Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements throughout the production floor
  • Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate action to correct or report safety concerns
  • Train, coach, and cross-train employees on proper production procedures and work practices
  • Provide hands-on assistance to production crews when necessary to meet daily production goals
  • Monitor employee performance, productivity, work quality, and adherence to company policies
  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive working environment
  • Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition
  • Coordinate with the Production Manager regarding daily staffing and production requirements
  • Assist with troubleshooting production issues and identifying solutions to keep production moving
  • Ensure employees properly use tools, equipment, and materials
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and established plant procedures
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on concrete experience, including precast, ready-mix, flatwork, concrete construction, or installation of precast pipe/box culvert on jobsites
  • Previous supervisory, foreman, or crew-lead experience strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of concrete placement, forming, curing, finishing, and common concrete defects
  • Ability to lead and direct employees in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to read and understand basic drawings, production schedules, and work instructions, or the ability to learn quickly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively with different crews and adapt to changing production needs
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Construction Foreman, Concrete Foreman, Production Foreman, Lead, or similar supervisory position
  • Experience in precast concrete manufacturing
  • Experience with precast concrete pipe, box culverts, drainage products, or other concrete infrastructure products
  • Experience working in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
  • OSHA or other construction/industrial safety training is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in various positions throughout the production floor
  • Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work around heavy machinery, moving equipment, rebar, concrete, and wet materials
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, and other weather conditions typical of a plant/yard environment
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods
  • Ability to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Work Environment

The work environment is not climate controlled and is subject to outdoor weather conditions. Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting. The Construction Foreman will regularly work around heavy machinery, concrete, rebar, moving equipment, dust, wet surfaces, and other conditions associated with a precast concrete manufacturing environment.

Must pass Pre-employment Physical and drug test.
