The Opportunity

The Commercial Construction Estimator plays a critical role in ECI's continued growth and success.

This position is responsible for developing complete and competitive estimates while helping ECI pursue the right opportunities, strengthen relationships with trade partners, and ensure a seamless transition from preconstruction into operations.

Success in this role requires more than technical expertise. It requires strategic thinking, attention to detail, relationship building, and the ability to identify project risks and opportunities before construction begins.


What You'll DoPreconstruction & Estimating
  • Lead the bid process from document review through final proposal submission.

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and scope analysis using Bluebeam and related estimating software.

  • Review plans, specifications, and project requirements.

  • Coordinate RFIs throughout the bidding process.

  • Develop conceptual budgets and early-stage cost analyses.

  • Identify value engineering opportunities and constructability improvements.

  • Evaluate project logistics, procurement concerns, and schedule risks.

Trade Partner Management
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.

  • Solicit competitive pricing and maintain strong bid coverage.

  • Analyze subcontractor proposals and level bids for complete scope alignment.

  • Prepare scopes of work, qualifications, and proposal clarifications.

Project Coordination
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions.

  • Develop preliminary project schedules using Microsoft Project.

  • Utilize Procore to distribute bid packages and monitor subcontractor participation.

  • Coordinate project turnover with Project Managers and Superintendents following project award.

  • Participate in preconstruction meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and consultants.

Business Development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, owners, architects, subcontractors, and industry partners.

  • Support business development efforts through proactive communication and relationship building.

  • Represent ECI professionally throughout the preconstruction process.


What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • 5+ years of estimating experience with a Commercial General Contractor.

  • Experience estimating ground-up and tenant improvement commercial construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of commercial construction assemblies, subcontractor scopes, and estimating best practices.

  • Ability to identify project risks, constructability concerns, and scope gaps before bid submission.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.

  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with exceptional attention to detail.

  • High ethical standards and personal accountability.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bluebeam experience

  • Procore experience

  • Microsoft Project experience

  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency

  • Experience developing conceptual budgets and value engineering solutions.

  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
