Job description

One Federal Solution (OFS) seeks a General/Skilled Laborer to join our Washington, DC team. As a Skilled Laborer, you will perform tasks that primarily require physical abilities, effort, and specialized skills typically associated with commercial moving services. Skilled Laborers are responsible for the following tasks, which represent a sample of commonly required functions but are not an all-inclusive list:

General/Skilled Laborer Tasks and Duties:

  • Load and unload trucks and other conveyances, including non-Contractor-provided vehicles.
  • Move supplies, materials, and equipment to/from designated locations using hand trucks, dollies, straps, or other appropriate tools.
  • Stack materials for storage.
  • Move and arrange heavy office furniture, equipment, appliances, antiques, and other items.
  • Assemble and disassemble office furniture (desks, chairs, shelving, etc.) using hand and power tools.
  • Install and mount items such as whiteboards, frames, and shelves securely on walls.
  • Perform basic upkeep and light maintenance tasks (e.g., tightening fixtures, adjusting furniture, securing equipment).
  • Secure all transported items to prevent shifting, ensure safety, and comply with Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Pack items for moving, with special care for fragile or sensitive equipment (computers, antiques, appliances, etc.).

General/Skilled Laborer Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience in labor, moving, or general maintenance/assembly work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow simple written instructions.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools (screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, hammers, chisels, etc.).
  • Experience assembling/disassembling office furniture and mounting wall fixtures.
  • Ability to lift at least 60 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in hot, cold, cramped, or otherwise uncomfortable environments, including use of ladders when needed.
