Job description

Operations Coordinator

Genco Manufacturing Inc

Location: Garnett, KS

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: President

About Genco Manufacturing

Genco Manufacturing is a leading metal fabrication company specializing in high-quality custom and precision metal products. With a commitment to innovation and efficiency, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Position Overview

Genco Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented, operations-minded Operations Coordinator to keep our production running on time and our materials flowing. Based in the office and reporting directly to the President, this person owns day-to-day production scheduling and purchasing — translating customer orders into actionable shop-floor schedules and making sure the right materials are on hand when production needs them. It’s a hands-on coordination role for someone who likes solving problems, juggling priorities, and being the connective tissue between customers, the shop floor, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Production Scheduling & Planning

•       Build and maintain production schedules that meet customer due dates and make efficient use of shop capacity.

•       Issue clear, prioritized daily/weekly work schedules to the production team.

•       Track job progress against deadlines and adjust schedules to resolve delays, bottlenecks, or resource conflicts.

•       Communicate any delivery-date changes to customers promptly.

Purchasing & Vendor Management

•       Source, evaluate, and manage vendors for raw materials, components, and outside services.

•       Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery timelines with suppliers.

•       Place and track purchase orders; chase late materials and outside processes until they’re received.

Inventory & Materials

•       Monitor inventory levels and reorder to keep production supplied without overstocking.

•       Ensure incoming materials are received, recorded, and available when jobs need them.

•       Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, inventory, and invoices.

Operational Support & Coordination

•       Serve as the communication hub between the office, shop floor, and customers on job status.

•       Coordinate with shipping to ensure finished product is delivered on the agreed date.

•       Support management with special projects and other operational tasks as needed.

Continuous Improvement

•       Identify ways to streamline scheduling, purchasing, and materials flow to cut cost and lead time.

•       Stay current on materials, suppliers, and best practices in metal fabrication.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

•       Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field preferred — or equivalent hands-on experience.

•       2+ years in production scheduling, purchasing, or operations coordination; manufacturing or metal fabrication experience a strong plus.

Skills

•       Strong organization and the ability to juggle multiple priorities under deadline.

•       Clear, confident communicator comfortable dealing with both suppliers and the shop floor.

•       Comfortable with ERP/MRP systems and solid MS Office skills (Excel and Outlook in particular).

•       Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive about heading off problems.

Other

•       Ability to read basic mechanical/technical drawings is a plus.

•       Thrives in a fast-paced, low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environment.

What We Offer

•       Competitive salary and benefits package.

•       Opportunities for professional growth.

•       A collaborative, supportive work environment.

•       The chance to be a key contributor to the company’s success.

Genco Manufacturing is an equal-opportunity employer.
