About the Role:

The General Maintenance Worker plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic upkeep of construction sites and related facilities. This position involves performing a wide range of maintenance tasks including repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance to support ongoing construction projects and facility operations. The role requires adaptability to work with various tools and equipment, addressing issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain project schedules. The General Maintenance Worker collaborates closely with construction teams, supervisors, and other trades to ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and project specifications. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall efficiency and success of construction operations by maintaining a safe and well-functioning work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in general maintenance or a related field within the construction industry.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in a relevant trade such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC.
• Experience with heavy machinery operation and maintenance.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and construction site safety protocols.
• First aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC repairs on construction sites and facilities.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment, tools, and building systems to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, materials used, and work orders completed.
• Assist in setting up and dismantling temporary structures, scaffolding, and safety barriers as required.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during maintenance operations.
• Coordinate with project managers and other trades to schedule maintenance work without disrupting construction timelines.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

Skills:

The required skills enable the General Maintenance Worker to effectively diagnose and repair a variety of mechanical and structural issues encountered daily on construction sites. Proficiency with hand and power tools ensures that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Strong problem-solving skills are essential for troubleshooting unexpected equipment failures or facility issues.
