Job description

Job Title: CAD Technician Specialist

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Job Type: Full-time, Contract

Duration: Base period from September 2026 to May 2027 + 4 Option Years


Job Overview: We are seeking a CAD Technician Specialist to provide technical engineering graphics support for the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron (50 CES). In this role, you will act as the installation's primary specialist for maintaining accurate 2D/3D models and record drawings. Your work will support planning, design, emergency response, and asset management by ensuring all facility documentation accurately reflects current real-property conditions.


Qualifications & Core Responsibilities: To be considered for this position, you must meet mandatory professional standards and demonstrate the ability to execute the following technical requirements:

  • Professional Foundation (Must meet one of the following): You must possess either (1) an associate’s degree or post-secondary certificate in computer-aided design, engineering technology, or a closely related field; OR (2) at least 2 years of professional experience as a CAD technician.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D is required. Additional experience with Map 3D, AutoCAD, and Revit is highly valued to support the management of diverse digital databases.
  • Standards & Compliance: You will proactively audit design drawings against the National CAD Standard (NCS) and the DoD A/E/C CAD Standard and ensuring 100% compliance in layer structure, scale, symbology, and title blocks.
  • Drawing Maintenance: Update and revise existing technical drawings based on field changes and redline markups provided by engineers and architects to ensure record drawings reflect current "as-built" conditions.
  • Data Analysis: Apply drafting theories and principles to analyze and manipulate data from surveying, architectural, and engineering sources to develop interactive drafting services and data visualization products for the installation.
  • Quality Assurance & Version Control: Perform a final, comprehensive check of all revised drawings to guarantee zero errors. You are responsible for managing a strict electronic filing system and version control protocol, clearly marking superseded drawings to ensure only the most current versions are accessible.
  • Deliverable Management: You will compile and transmit final approved drawing packages in both PDF and native DWG formats to the Government as required for official project closeout.


Security Clearance/Access: Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI) for unescorted entry to restricted military areas
