Job description

CPR and First Aid or within 30 days of hire
Counselors are responsible for supervising participants while conducting educational, cultural, and recreational activities for Achievers-Gear Up program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • To supervise and interact appropriately with all participants in the program according to the curriculum standards.
  • To plan, implement and participate in all scheduled activities including, but not limited to, weekly lesson plans, sports, games, crafts, etc.
  • Be responsible for the safety of program participants at all times.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, program participants and other staff.
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
  • To complete all required documentation for the program.
  • Responsible for maintenance and care of equipment and supplies.
  • To help with housekeeping tasks as necessary.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Certifications and Trainings
CPR and First Aid or within 30 days of hire
Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens within 30 days of hire
