JOB SUMMARY:
The GEAR UP Manager oversees the GEAR UP Wyoming grant at LCCC. It is responsible for overseeing and leading site staff, objectives, budget, processes, data, activities, programs, and overall success of the grant in accordance with the national and state specific Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant policies. This position is grant-funded; specific parameters associated with the grant may impact the start/stop of any employment relationship as well as compensation. Principal Responsibilities and Results, KSA's
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - this position is exempt and is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.

Program Oversight & Implementation- Ensure effective oversight and implementation for the GEAR UP by managing program activities, coordinating with partners, monitoring compliance, and ensuring timely delivery of services to eligible students.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the GEAR UP program.
  • Ensure the program's goals and objectives are being met, aligning with federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student readiness for college.
Budget and Grant Management- Oversee budget and grant management by preparing financial reports, tracking expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and managing fund allocations for the GEAR UP program.
  • Administer the GEAR UP budget in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit financial and progress reports for grantors.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure funds are used effectively and appropriately, in compliance with grant guidelines.
Team Leadership - Foster team engagement by providing guidance, conducting performance evaluations, facilitating professional development, and promoting collaboration among GEAR UP team members.
  • Organize workflows, setting clear goals
  • Promote effective communication
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure successful program activities
  • Foster a collaborative team environment.
Engagement and Partnership Development- Strengthen engagement and partnerships by building relationships with schools and community organizations and coordinating outreach efforts to support the GEAR UP program.
  • Provide resources and support for families, addressing barriers to post-secondary education.
  • Collaborate with partners to offer additional resources and services to students and families.
  • Build and maintain relationships with school districts, community organizations and other stakeholders.
Professional Development- Promote professional development by identifying training opportunities, encouraging skill-building activities, supporting continuous learning, and facilitating growth for GEAR UP staff.
  • Ensure ongoing training for staff to stay current with best practices in college readiness.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and meetings to enhance program knowledge.
Other responsibilities may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus

Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience working with grant projects and budgets.
  • Two years of experience working in education, academic counseling, or related field; to include experience working with adolescents and families.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to be insured by the College's insurance provider.
*In lieu of the required degree, candidates with equivalent professional experience, industry certifications, or a combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a closely related field of study.
  • Two years of experience working with grant projects, public school personnel, and providing college readiness and/or preparedness support.
  • Three years of experience working with/supporting individuals from low-income populations in overcoming barriers and achieving goals and/or personal experience.
  • Three years of experience with program development, supporting curriculum development, and utilizing effective management and organization skills.
