About the job Director of Sales - Railroad Engineering Services
Our client seeks an experienced Sales Director specializing in the transportation and railroad sectors to lead and expand our Engineering, Digital, and IT services portfolio within the railroad industry. This role requires a deep understanding of railroad operations and engineering, with a proven ability to drive large-scale engineering projects, manage cross-functional teams, and engage with CIO organizations and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership in Engineering & Digital Services: Lead large engineering and IT teams focused on collaborating with CIO organizations, particularly within IT/Digital Services, ERP, and Systems Integration (SI), with an emphasis on the railroad industry.
  • Project Management: Oversee and execute complex business transactions, including defining and scoping engineering projects, assisting in high-scale staffing and recruitment, and developing relationships with local staffing agencies for specialized skills.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with internal teams and clients to lead proposal efforts, defining the project approach, schedule, and cost to deliver client value.
  • Detailed Project Planning: Facilitate comprehensive project planning, covering all aspects of scope, cost, schedule, risk, and technical performance, ensuring well-defined outcomes from start to finish.
  • Project Performance Management: Oversee internal team performance by balancing scope, cost, and schedule to ensure successful project completion.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout project execution, providing periodic performance assessments, managing risks, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Technical Support and Supervision: Provide technical oversight and support throughout project execution and manage cross-functional team activities, including direct supervision of team members.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant Quality Systems, industry regulations, and applicable government standards.
  • Communication & Presentation: Utilize strong presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Business Management from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 15+ years of overall experience.
  • At least 10+ years in sales within CIO organizations, with 5-8 years specifically in the railroad sector or within services organizations supporting railroad operations.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work collaboratively across teams.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Project, and other business/project management tools).
    • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills for effective client interactions.

Preferred Experience:
Previous experience with Engineering Services Providers (e.g., TCS, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, IBM, Concentrix) and proven sales experience with Class 1 Railroad companies, such as Alstom, Hitachi Rail, GE, Bombardier.
