Overview
GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Voice and Network Engineer to join our Managed Services team.
Position Overview
This position will be responsible for the design, implementation, administration, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of modern phone systems and related VoIP infrastructure for our managed- services customers. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with 3CX, SIP, VoIP, networking, firewalls, and Microsoft 365, and understands how these technologies work together in a business environment. This is a client-facing engineering position that will participate in new implementations, system migrations, escalations, project work, and ongoing managed-services support.
Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain phone systems for SMB and mid-market customers.
  • Perform new phone system installations, upgrades, migrations, and system expansions.
  • Provision and manage IP phones and other VoIP endpoints.
  • Support common platforms including Yealink, Fanvil, Grandstream, Poly, and similar devices.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VoIP-related firewall requirements.
  • Work with firewalls including Fortinet, SonicWall, Meraki, WatchGuard, Palo Alto, and similar platforms.
  • Troubleshoot SIP connectivity and interoperability issues with carriers and SIP providers.
  • Perform network and packet-level troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark and 3CX diagnostic tools.
  • Monitor customer phone systems and proactively identify potential problems.
  • Participate in on-call and escalation support as required.
  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for VoIP and 3CX-related issues.
  • Configure and troubleshoot:
      • SIP trunks
      • SIP providers
      • SBCs
      • DIDs
      • Inbound and outbound call routing
      • IVRs and digital receptionists
      • Ring groups and queues
      • Call forwarding and routing
      • Voicemail
      • Auto attendants
      • Conference services
      • Call recording
      • Holiday and office-hour routing

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with 3CX or comparable VoIP platforms
  • Strong understanding of SIP and VoIP technologies.
  • Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing, and QoS.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting firewalls.
  • Experience deploying and supporting IP phones.
  • Experience troubleshooting VoIP call-quality issues.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently on complex technical issues.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Experience working in an MSP or managed-services environment preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer projects and support issues simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations as required.
