Gas Measurement Specialist (Hybrid – Detroit, MI)
Contract: 6 months | Pay Rate: $34.14/hr | Potential for Extension or Direct Hire

Our client, a leading energy and utilities provider, is seeking a Gas Measurement Specialist to join their team on a hybrid basis in Detroit, MI. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the integrity and accuracy of gas measurement data while collaborating cross-functionally with field operations and business partners.

Position Overview
The Gas Measurement Specialist validates gas measurement data for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance using the company’s Gas Measurement system. This individual contributor role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can independently analyze large datasets, identify measurement anomalies, and ensure defensible reporting aligned with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and identify potential measurement anomalies using trend analysis and system data.
  • Collaborate with field operations teams to address and resolve equipment or measurement issues.
  • Prepare volumetric and billing correction reports for internal and external gas customers.
  • Perform daily and monthly gas system balancing analyses to identify lost and unaccounted-for gas (LAUF).
  • Implement approved enhancements to gas measurement systems in compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and execute billing correction strategies using SAP billing systems.
  • Support continuous improvement and may lead special measurement projects to optimize data accuracy and processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in gas measurement or data analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and database systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to defend and justify recommendations.
  • Experience analyzing large, complex datasets and making data-driven decisions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and evolving responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with accounting practices in the utility industry.
  • Knowledge of gas transmission, distribution, and gathering systems.
