Job description

 Amptek, a world leader in radiation detection components for X-ray and gamma-ray applications, is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager. This role reports to the Controller and is responsible for coordinating daily accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Drive the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate results within corporate timelines
  • Perform month-end closing activities, including AP subledgers, journal entries, general ledger and intercompany reconciliations
  • Load financial data into Hyperion (HFM) and the Finance SharePoint Portal
  • Analyze general ledger accounts and provide commentary on month-to-month changes and variances against budget and forecast
  • Assist in quarterly MD&A reporting by explaining GL variances

Accounting Operations & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, and internal controls
  • Perform monthly SOX testing and maintain documentation in the corporate SOX database
  • Support internal and external audits, including coordination with auditors and external advisors
  • Manage tax compliance activities

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Supervise the Senior Accountant and Staff Accountant
  • Allocate work across the team to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Support the development of the team, with potential for managing additional personnel as the role evolves

Working Capital & Cross-Functional Support

  • Lead cross-functional working capital analysis, with a focus on Accounts Payable
  • Coordinate the collection of data required for corporate reporting across accounting, audit, tax, and treasury functions
  • Support the DVP Finance and broader finance team with projects and additional responsibilities as needed

Fixed Assets & Capital Management

  • Oversee fixed asset and demo reporting, including annual physical audits
  • Review and support capital expenditure (CapEx) and R&D spending requests
  • Perform reporting activities such as PPE rollforward, CapEx tracking, and related financial metrics

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Evaluate accounting policies and procedural control systems, identifying opportunities to improve effectiveness and compliance
  • Act as a proactive driver of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency

Reporting & Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage 5th / 7th day reporting requirements, including CapEx, PPE rollforward, international entitlement days, and DPO
  • Prepare and deliver ad hoc reports and analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

Technical Knowledge

  • Experience with advanced ERP systems, preferably Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Adobe)
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
