Job description

Advanced Technical Designer (Player Package)

Would you like to work on some of the greatest franchises in gaming history? What about working on our new original IP? Certain Affinity is a game developer in Texas, based out of Austin, and we have a growing presence in Toronto, Canada. We're best known for co-developing numerous AAA FPS games, though now we are creating compelling new games of our own. We're always on the lookout for amazing talent to join our team.

As an Advanced Technical Designer, you will be part of a team creating and implementing fun and exciting gameplay for AAA action titles. You will have opportunities to script gameplay systems and environmental systems to support core gameplay, combat,  puzzles, and missions.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Lead Designer to implement gameplay and player systems to the high-quality level and product goals of the game.
  • Utilize, create, and improve development pipelines, tools, and documentation
  • Learn and maintain existing gameplay-related systems and events with an emphasis on performance and developer usability
  • Work with other designers, artists, and engineers to implement engaging gameplay systems (such as weapons, enemies, missions, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the development team to facilitate idea generation and feature implementation.
  • Assist in frequent playtesting of levels and systems and gather and integrate feedback from internal and external Quality Assurance.

Requirements

  • 4 or more years of experience as a Scripter or Technical Designer, including:
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Engine systems including Blueprint
  • 2 or more years of experience working with Unreal 5
  • Experience with programming languages (C++, LUA, Python, etc.)
  • Experience as a Scripter or Technical Designer on a shipped title.
  • Ability to dissect and understand core gameplay and mechanics and then implement and improve them.
  • Ability to self-manage to hard deadlines while adjusting to changes in a fast-paced environment.

Extra Credit

  • Experience as a Scripter or Technical Designer for the full development cycle on a shipped AAA game.
  • Experience designing and developing player 3C’s (Camera, Control, Character)
  • Extensive experience playing shooters and action games such as Call of Duty, Halo, or Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.

Salary Range120K-140K USD per year
