Radio Operations - $25.00 per hour Position Summary: The Radio Operations role is responsible for executing all technical and production elements of live game-day broadcasts, ensuring a seamless and professional on-air experience from setup through postgame wrap-up. This position supports announcers and production staff by managing equipment, maintaining audio quality, coordinating timing, and facilitating clear communication across teams. The role is essential to delivering a reliable, high-quality broadcast that keeps fans engaged and connected to the game, both in real time and through postgame content. Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Execute all live game-day radio broadcast operations to ensure a smooth and professional on-air product.
    • Set up and test radio broadcast equipment (headsets, mixers, codecs, microphones) before games.
    • Assist the play-by-play announcer and color commentator during live broadcasts.
    • Monitor audio quality throughout the game and troubleshoot issues in real time.
    • Manage commercial breaks, cue reads, and timing with the producer.
    • Coordinate with the in-arena production crew and control room.
    • Operate audio boards or digital broadcast systems.
    • Ensure clean transmission to flagship stations and affiliate networks.
    • Handle backup systems in case of equipment failure.
    • Record game audio for postgame use, highlights, or archives.
  • Support broadcast preparation, communication, and postgame wrap-up to keep all stakeholders aligned and content organized.
    • Act as a liaison between radio talent, producers, engineers, and PR staff.
    • Relay stats, notes, and real-time updates to broadcasters.
    • Coordinate timing with TV broadcasts when simulcasting or sharing feeds.
    • Help prepare broadcast materials (rosters, stat sheets, storylines).
    • Assist with pre-game and post-game shows or interviews.
    • Pack up and maintain equipment after the game.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements: Formal Education & Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Audio Production, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience:
  • Basic knowledge of radio broadcasting, audio production, and live event operations.
  • Familiarity with audio equipment such as mixers, microphones, headsets, and broadcast software.
  • Experience working in live production environments (e.g., college radio, sports broadcasting, or internships).
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly in a fast-paced, live setting.
  • Understanding of broadcast timing, commercial breaks, and production workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with on-air talent and production teams.
  • General knowledge of hockey and the NHL is preferred.

  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc.
