Job description

COMPANY BACKGROUND The Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club's brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Dynamo & Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park. The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament championships for both the Dynamo (2018, 2023) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB HDFC is seeking candidates with an interest in public relations, writing and editing to join the gameday communications team. The candidates will assist with various gameday tasks like media operations, conducting interviews, transcribing and press box set up. In addition, this role will support the public relations staff with media relations, soccer communications and player relations matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Welcomes members of the media by greeting and assisting them in during their visit to Shell Energy Stadium, Houston Sports Park or other venues, as needed.
  • Assist in game day set up and the distribution of photo bibs and game day collateral, such as line ups and statistics.
  • Assist with game day presentation and other activities such as the team photo.
  • Assist in the set-up of broadcast location, media press box and workroom, post-game conference area.
  • Assist with media movements throughout a match.
  • Transcribe audio following postgame press conferences.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Interested in sports writing, statistics and public relations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure
  • High school degree
  • Flexible hours required. Working evenings/nights, weekends and holidays
  • Knowledge of the NWSL, MLS, Houston Dash and Houston Dynamo FC - preferable

  • Interested in acquiring further marketing and communications experience with a professional sports organization.
