Game Recruiter information

What is a game recruiter?

A Game Recruiter is responsible for finding and hiring top talent for video game companies. They source candidates for roles such as game designers, engineers, artists, and producers. This involves networking, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and collaborating with hiring managers to ensure the right fit. Strong knowledge of the gaming industry and an understanding of various game development roles are essential for success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a game recruiter?

To thrive as a Game Recruiter, you need a strong background in talent acquisition, knowledge of the gaming industry, and experience with candidate sourcing and assessment. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruitment platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter, and sometimes certifications such as AIRS or LinkedIn Certified Professional Recruiter are highly valuable. Outstanding relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills help drive successful placements and foster partnerships within the gaming community. These abilities are vital for effectively identifying and attracting top talent in a highly competitive and fast-evolving industry.

What are some typical challenges faced by game recruiters when sourcing candidates?

Game Recruiters often face the challenge of finding candidates with specialized skill sets, such as expertise in game design, development, or emerging technologies like AR/VR. Because gaming is a rapidly evolving field, recruiters must stay updated on industry trends and adapt their sourcing strategies accordingly. Additionally, competition for top talent is fierce, requiring recruiters to build strong talent networks and provide an engaging candidate experience. Staying proactive and resourceful helps overcome these hurdles and ensures that clients or employers get the right fit for their teams.

This role partners closely with hiring managers to understand workforce needs, develop targeted recruiting and sourcing strategies, identify and engage high-quality talent, and effectively manage candidates throughout the recruitment and selection process.

The Recruiter supports both ongoing and high-volume hiring needs while building sustainable talent pipelines, expanding sourcing channels, and strengthening recruitment marketing and employer brand visibility. This role also supports campus recruiting, community partnerships, recruitment events, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance overall Talent Acquisition effectiveness.

What You'll Do

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment across exempt and non-exempt positions, including intake and job calibration, sourcing, screening, interviewing, candidate assessment, selection, offer management, and onboarding coordination.
  • Partner with hiring managers, HR representatives, and operational leaders to define candidate profiles, establish recruiting strategies, and drive timely, informed hiring decisions.
  • Develop proactive sourcing strategies utilizing Workday and its AI-enabled recruiting and sourcing capabilities, LinkedIn, Indeed, Boolean search techniques, professional networks, referrals, community partnerships, and other talent channels.
  • Build and maintain pipelines of qualified talent for current and anticipated hiring needs, with particular focus on high-volume and business-critical positions.
  • Deliver a professional, engaging, and consistent candidate experience throughout the recruitment and selection process.
  • Maintain accurate candidate, requisition, sourcing, and hiring activity within Workday, ensuring data integrity, appropriate documentation, and compliance with established recruiting practices.
  • Advise hiring managers on candidate quality, talent availability, sourcing challenges, interview practices, and market conditions that may influence successful hiring outcomes.
  • Manage campus recruitment initiatives, including candidate sourcing and screening, interview coordination, selection, offer approvals, and offer extension.
  • Represent the organization at career fairs, campus events, community outreach programs, networking events, and other Talent Acquisition initiatives.
  • Partner with HR and Marketing to develop and distribute recruitment marketing and employer-branding content across social media, job boards, digital channels, and community networks.
  • Train and support HR representatives and hiring managers on recruiting best practices, interviewing and selection, onboarding standards, and recruiting processes.
  • Track and analyze recruiting metrics, including requisition activity, candidate pipelines, sourcing effectiveness, time-to-fill, hiring activity, and other key Talent Acquisition indicators.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal and state employment regulations and ensure recruiting practices align with organizational policies and compliance requirements.
  • Exercise discretion, confidentiality, sound judgment, and professionalism when handling candidate and employee information.
  • Perform other related duties and Talent Acquisition initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required, with the ability to effectively communicate with candidates and employees in both languages.

OR

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required, with demonstrated ability to communicate professionally in both languages and conduct candidate screening, interviews, and recruiting-related conversations in Spanish.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of full-cycle recruiting, Talent Acquisition, or HR Generalist experience with significant recruiting responsibility.
  • Experience recruiting in a high-volume, multi-position, or fast-paced operating environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple requisitions and recruiting priorities across departments and organizational levels.
  • Strong sourcing and candidate research capabilities, including experience with Boolean search, LinkedIn, job boards, professional networks, referrals, and alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Experience utilizing Workday for recruiting, candidate sourcing, requisition management, and applicant tracking strongly preferred; experience with comparable enterprise recruiting platforms may be considered.
  • Ability to effectively assess candidate experience, qualifications, competencies, and alignment with position and organizational requirements.
  • Strong consultative and relationship-building skills with the ability to establish credibility with hiring managers, HR partners, candidates, and operational leaders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong commitment to candidate and hiring-manager service.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, project-management, and follow-through skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze recruiting data and market insights to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities and support informed recruiting decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment regulations and recruiting compliance requirements.

This role offers a base salary range of $60,000 - 75,000K
