Short Description

IGT is seeking an experienced Manager, Capital Assets & Lease Accounting to join our Corporate Accounting organization. This role will oversee key aspects of the Company's global accounting for tangible and intangible capital assets, capital projects, and lessee activity, ensuring accurate and timely accounting and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Company policies.

The Manager will be responsible for maintaining strong financial controls across the asset lifecycle-from initial capital expenditure and construction-in-progress through capitalization, depreciation or amortization, transfers, impairment, and disposal. The role will also oversee accounting for internally developed software and global lessee activity related to real estate and equipment, as well as support purchase accounting and integration activities for acquired fixed assets.

This position will partner closely with Corporate Accounting, Technical Accounting, Real Estate, FP&A, Technology, Procurement, Tax, Legal, and business finance teams. A key focus of the role will be strengthening and standardizing global processes, improving visibility into capital projects and lease obligations, and identifying opportunities for automation and operational efficiencies.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on accounting leader who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with an operational mindset. This individual should be comfortable working through complex asset and lease accounting matters while also seeing the bigger picture, challenging existing processes, and partnering across the organization to improve how capital investments and lease obligations are accounted for and reported.

This role provides an opportunity to take ownership of significant areas within IGT's Corporate Accounting organization, with exposure to global capital projects, tangible and intangible assets, real estate and equipment leases, acquisitions and integrations, technology investments, and finance transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the accounting and reporting for tangible and intangible capital assets, capital projects, and lease-related assets and liabilities, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, Company accounting policies, and internal control requirements.
  • Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including asset additions, capitalization, depreciation and amortization, transfers, disposals, retirements, and impairment considerations.
  • Oversee construction-in-progress (CIP) and other capital project balances, partnering with project owners and Finance teams to ensure projects are reviewed regularly and placed into service on a timely basis.
  • Oversee accounting for internally developed software and other technology investments, including evaluating costs for capitalization and ensuring appropriate amortization once projects are placed into service.
  • Oversee the Company's global lessee accounting activities for real estate and equipment leases, ensuring appropriate recognition and measurement of right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, lease expense, and related activity in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Procurement, Legal, regional Finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure new leases, renewals, modifications, terminations, and other contractual changes are identified and appropriately reflected in the accounting records.
  • Review lease accounting calculations, reconciliations, and supporting schedules and help ensure the completeness and accuracy of the global lease population.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to capital assets and leases, including journal entries, account reconciliations, rollforwards, and financial statement reporting schedules.
  • Review significant capital expenditures and project activity to ensure appropriate classification between capital and operating expenditures.
  • Monitor the aging and status of capital projects and proactively identify abandoned, delayed, or potentially impaired assets for review with management.
  • Partner with FP&A and business finance teams to support capital expenditure, depreciation, amortization, and lease expense forecasting, including analysis of actual results against forecast.
  • Support acquisitions and purchase accounting activities related to fixed assets, including coordination of asset valuations, establishment of acquired assets within the fixed asset subledger, assignment of appropriate useful lives and depreciation methods, and reconciliation of acquired asset balances to purchase accounting records.
  • Partner with Corporate Development, Technical Accounting, Tax, and other stakeholders to support the integration of acquired assets, capital projects, and leases into the Company's accounting systems, policies, and control environment.
  • Provide accounting guidance to project managers and business partners regarding capitalization policies, project accounting, fixed asset requirements, and lease accounting considerations.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over capital assets, capital projects, and lease accounting, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to capital assets, capital expenditures, depreciation and amortization, capitalized software, leases, and acquisition accounting.
  • Lead and develop team members responsible for capital asset, project, and lease accounting activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization across global asset and lease accounting processes, including opportunities for automation, enhanced reporting, and improved system capabilities.
  • Participate in broader Corporate Accounting initiatives, including acquisitions, integrations, system implementations, and other strategic projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with fixed assets, capital projects, lease accounting, or corporate accounting.
  • Prior experience managing or developing accounting professionals.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including accounting principles related to property, plant and equipment, capitalization, depreciation, impairment, internally developed software, and lease accounting under ASC 842.
  • Experience managing month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively partner across Finance and non-Finance functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results within a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a large, publicly traded, multinational organization.
  • Public accounting experience, including Big Four experience.
  • Experience with capital project accounting, construction-in-progress, internally developed software capitalization, and global lease accounting.
  • Experience supporting business combinations, purchase accounting, and the integration of acquired fixed assets and leases.
  • Experience with SAP, particularly fixed asset accounting and capital project functionality, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with lease administration or lease accounting systems and managing a global portfolio of real estate and equipment leases.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
