Job description

LEAD ROOFING TECHNICIAN - COMMERCIAL RE-ROOF

Department: Operations

Reports To: Service Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Location: Atlanta


Position Summary:

The Commercial Roofing Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing and executing the installation, maintenance, and repair of various commercial roofing systems. This individual will lead a team of roofing technician (s), ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. This role requires extensive hands-on experience, leadership skills, and deep knowledge of commercial roofing materials and systems.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and participate in the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, metal, built-up, etc.)
  • Lead, train, and mentor a roofing technician; ensure work is performed safely and efficiently
  • Interpret project specifications, and manufacturer installation instructions
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety protocols
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
  • Coordinate with project managers, suppliers, and other subcontractors as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation including job reports, timecards, and material usage
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment in safe working order
  • Identify and troubleshoot roofing issues; propose effective solutions


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial roofing experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Proficient in multiple roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and OSHA standards
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use roofing tools and equipment safely


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., GAF, Carlisle, Firestone, Johns Manville)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
