Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and safety-driven Track Hoe Operator to support a client specializing in stream restoration and environmental construction projects. This role is ideal for an operator with strong GPS machine control experience who can perform precise excavation and grading work in environmentally sensitive areas.

The successful candidate will have experience operating excavators in heavy civil, site development, utility, or stream restoration environments and will be comfortable working around waterways, wetlands, and uneven terrain. Attention to detail, grade accuracy, and a strong commitment to safety are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate track hoes/excavators safely and efficiently on stream restoration and environmental construction projects
  • Utilize GPS machine control systems to perform accurate excavation, grading, and contouring work
  • Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, blueprints, and project specifications
  • Perform stream channel shaping, bank stabilization, culvert installation, and erosion control activities
  • Excavate around utilities and environmentally sensitive areas with precision
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, grade checkers, and field crews to ensure project accuracy and productivity
  • Follow all company, client, OSHA, and environmental compliance standards
  • Assist with additional construction duties as needed to support project completion
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of excavator/track hoe operating experience
  • Previous GPS machine control experience required
  • Experience in stream restoration, earthwork, utility, or heavy civil construction preferred
  • Ability to work from plans, elevations, and grade information
  • Strong understanding of safe excavation practices
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Trimble, Topcon, or Leica GPS systems
  • Knowledge of erosion control and environmental compliance standards
  • Ability to operate additional heavy equipment is a plus
  • CDL preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, and operate heavy equipment for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
  • Ability to work on uneven ground and active construction sites
