Job description

Technology / GPS / Machine Control Specialist - Heavy Equipment

$2000 Signing Bonus

Technology / GPS / Machine Control Specialist installs, calibrates, and troubleshoots 3D machine control systems (dozers, graders, excavators) to ensure precise grading and excavation. They train operators, manage 3D site models, and optimize site positioning technology to reduce rework, maximize efficiency, and improve safety on construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Calibration:Install, calibrate, and maintain GPS/GNSS, UTS (Universal Total Stations), and laser systems on various heavy equipment makes and models.
  • Site Modeling & Data:Upload 3D models, create surface data, and verify project design specifications in the field.
  • Technical Support:Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair machine control issues to minimize downtime.
  • Training & Implementation:Train operators and site personnel on effective technology utilization.
  • Surveying & Layout:Set up base stations and perform site calibrations to ensure data accuracy.
  • Telematics & Health:Monitor machine health and data analytics

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience:3+ years in heavy construction, surveying, or with machine control systems.
  • Technical Knowledge:Proficiency with GPS, 3D grading systems, and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, Topcon Magnet).
  • Equipment Knowledge:Deep understanding of construction equipment operation.
  • Problem-Solving:Ability to troubleshoot electronic, hydraulic, and software issues in field conditions.
  • Communication:Strong interpersonal skills to support operators, project managers, and clients

This role frequently involves traveling to various job sites, working outdoors, and collaborating with project managers to improve efficiency
