Job description

Description
The Opportunity
Alpha Inc. is looking for a GPS Program Manager who can turn plans, models, data, and field realities into clean execution.
This is not a back-office drafting role.
This is a precision-meets-production role - where your CAD skills, GPS knowledge, machine control expertise, and construction mindset directly impact how accurately and efficiently the work gets built.
You'll create and manage 2D and 3D construction models, prepare field files for GPS-guided equipment and survey devices, support bidding and planning, verify constructibility, resolve design conflicts, and make sure the data going to the field is accurate, usable, and ready for real-world conditions.
The right person for this seat is equal parts technical expert, field problem-solver, and team player. You know the model matters - but you also know the jobsite always tells the truth.
If you can bridge the gap between design intent and dirt-moving execution, Alpha wants to talk.
About Alpha Inc.
Founded and grown in Hawai'i, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in heavy civil construction, drilling, renewable energy, concrete resources, and infrastructure solutions. Alpha builds projects that support resilient infrastructure, local communities, and Hawai'i's future.
We live by three core values that shape how we work and lead:
  • Leading with Heart - Humility, accountability, respect, kindness, and a commitment to helping people grow.
  • Strength in Unity - Collaboration, open communication, and teamwork across departments, divisions, and jobsites.
  • Alpha Mentality - Grit, character, growth mindset, safety, quality, integrity, and the drive to keep improving.

As GPS Program Manager, you'll help bring those values to life by giving our teams the accurate tools, data, and technical confidence they need to execute at a high level.
What You Will Do
Build the Models That Build the Work
You'll create detailed and accurate 3D models for construction projects using AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, Civil CAD, or similar platforms. Your models will help drive planning, production, estimating, machine control, and field execution.
Turn Design Intent Into Field-Ready Data
You'll translate drawings, specifications, surveys, and design changes into clean construction data that crews and equipment operators can trust. You'll prepare GPS field files, machine control data, exhibits, construction sketches, and supporting documents that keep the work moving.
Own GPS and Machine Control Accuracy
You'll create, update, and verify machine control data for GPS-guided equipment. You'll support GPS field calibration, operate survey equipment when needed, and ensure the data issued to the field is accurate, constructible, and aligned with project requirements.
Support Bidding, Planning, and Production
You'll perform quantity takeoffs using 3D models, support cost estimating, assist with project bidding, and help project teams plan the work before the work hits the field.
Keep Project Data Current
You'll update and maintain models throughout the project lifecycle, incorporating design changes, field modifications, and as-built conditions. You'll help make sure the project team is working from current, reliable information - not outdated assumptions.
Solve Conflicts Before They Become Field Problems
You'll identify design conflicts, ambiguities, and constructability issues early. When something doesn't line up, you'll help resolve it, prepare RFIs as needed, and keep the project team ahead of avoidable rework.
Train and Support the Field
You'll train field staff in the use of GPS equipment, survey tools, and related software. You'll be a technical resource for project teams, crews, and operators who need clear answers and practical support.
Communicate Complex Information Clearly
You'll produce visualizations, renderings, exhibits, and other tools that help clients, stakeholders, project teams, and field crews understand the work. Your job is not just to create data - it's to make that data useful.
Drive Continuous Improvement
You'll help improve how Alpha uses CAD, GPS, survey data, machine control, and project lifecycle information. You'll bring ideas, sharpen workflows, and push for better accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across projects.
What You Bring
  • You are detail-obsessed, field-aware, and calm under pressure.
  • You understand that a small data error can become a big field problem. You take pride in precision, but you're not trapped behind a screen. You can work with project managers, engineers, surveyors, operators, subcontractors, and clients - and you know how to keep things moving when priorities shift.

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, CAD-related roles, GPS/machine control, survey support, civil modeling, or a related technical construction role.
  • Experience creating and managing 3D models for civil construction projects.
  • Experience preparing GPS field files, machine control data, quantity takeoffs, construction exhibits, and project support documents.
  • Hands-on exposure to survey equipment, GPS technology, field calibration, and construction layout support.
  • Drone surveying experience and familiarity with drone surveying techniques is a plus.

Education & Licenses
  • Associate's degree in Construction Management, engineering, drafting, surveying, or a related field preferred.
  • Remote Pilot's License preferred.
  • Valid, unexpired driver's license with a clean driving record required.

Skills & Mindset
  • Strong proficiency in 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, Civil CAD, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Trimble Business Center, Civil CAD, and related construction technology tools.
  • Strong understanding of surveying methods, GPS technology, machine guidance, and construction data workflows.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze contract drawings, specifications, field surveys, and design updates.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and project demands.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with project teams, field crews, clients, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • A proactive problem-solving mindset with the discipline to verify accuracy before data hits the field.

Why Alpha?
At Alpha Inc., technology is not just a tool - it is a force multiplier.
Your work will help crews move faster, build smarter, reduce rework, improve accuracy, and deliver projects with confidence. You'll be part of a team that values safety, quality, innovation, and doing the job right the first time.
This is a role for someone who wants their technical expertise to matter in the field, not just live in a file folder.
Benefits & Perks
Alpha Inc. offers a competitive benefits package designed to support you and your family, including:
  • 100% company-paid Medical/Dental/Vision (family coverage)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) (vacation, personal, and sick time) that increases with tenure

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan: Eligible after 1 month of service (age 18+), with a Safe Harbor match (100% on the first 3%, 50% on the next 2%) with immediate vesting.
  • Life & AD&D insurance (company-paid, with family coverage)
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) (24/7 confidential support)
