Capital Paving | Ozark, Missouri

Capital Paving is seeking an experienced Construction Surveyor (Trimble GPS & Machine Control) to support heavy highway, asphalt paving, grading, and civil construction projects throughout Southwest Missouri. This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are built accurately and efficiently through the use of advanced surveying technology, GPS systems, machine control, and construction layout.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Trimble GPS systems, total stations, construction staking, and grade control technology. Experience with Leica survey equipment and stringless paving systems is highly preferred.

Key ResponsibilitiesConstruction Layout & Surveying
  • Perform construction staking and layout for roadway, paving, grading, and site development projects.
  • Establish and maintain project control points, benchmarks, and reference markers.
  • Verify alignments, grades, elevations, and dimensions throughout all phases of construction.
  • Utilize Trimble GPS systems, total stations, levels, and related surveying equipment to collect accurate field data.
Machine Control & Grade Management
  • Support machine control and grade control operations for earthwork and paving crews.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of GPS models and field data used by machine-controlled equipment.
  • Troubleshoot field issues related to GPS and machine control systems.
Data Collection & Management
  • Process survey data and maintain accurate records of field measurements.
  • Create and manage digital terrain models, surface files, and survey deliverables.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other surveying software for data processing and project support.
Quality Control
  • Monitor project progress to ensure work conforms to plans, specifications, and design requirements.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies before they impact production.
  • Verify completed work for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Collaboration & Safety
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and field crews.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding layout needs, project changes, and field conditions.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures while working in active construction environments.
QualificationsRequired
  • Experience in construction surveying, layout, and staking.
  • Proficiency with Trimble GPS equipment, total stations, and conventional surveying methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and grade sheets.
  • Strong computer and data management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
Preferred
  • Degree, certification, or training in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar survey software.
  • Experience with machine control and grade control systems.
  • Knowledge of Leica survey equipment.
  • Experience with stringless paving technology.
  • Experience in heavy highway, asphalt paving, or civil construction projects.
