Job description

Job Title: GIS Data Maintenance and Application Support

Location: Hybrid - (Gaithersburg, MD 20878) Onsite work required based on the supervisor’s request and the candidate’s availability. Daily onsite presence is not required

Scope of Work:

Contractor will provide one GIS support professional to assist the Montgomery County Police Department GIS program with maintaining GIS data, supporting GIS applications, and performing routine GIS maintenance activities in support of the Department''''''''''''''''s GIS infrastructure and technology initiatives.

Duties may include:

  • Editing, maintaining, and validating GIS datasets.
  • Performing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on spatial and attribute data.
  • Assisting with data cleanup, standardization, and documentation.
  • Updating web maps, feature services, and existing GIS applications.
  • Assisting with testing GIS applications following software updates or configuration changes.
  • Supporting routine GIS maintenance activities and special GIS projects as assigned.
  • Assisting with GIS data preparation, map production, and spatial analysis for public safety operations.

Deliverables:

  • Accurate and timely updates to GIS datasets.
  • Completed QA/QC of assigned GIS data.
  • Updated web maps and GIS content.
  • Documentation of completed work and procedures.
  • Support for GIS application testing and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro and other Esri ArcGIS applications.
  • GIS data editing and maintenance.
  • QA/QC experience.
  • Understanding of geodatabases.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Education, including relevant credentials and/or certifications.

  • Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Relevant Esri coursework or certifications preferred.
