Registered Nurse (RN) – GI Lab | 13-Week Travel Assignment

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – GI Lab
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Employment Type: Weekly W-2 Pay
Schedule: Full-Time (Day Shift, unless otherwise specified)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a busy Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab for a 13-week travel assignment. The ideal candidate will have experience providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing GI procedures, including pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-anesthesia recovery care.

Candidates must be proficient in Epic EMR and demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced procedural environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care throughout all phases of GI procedures.

  • Perform patient assessments and document findings accurately in Epic EMR.

  • Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies, EGDs, ERCPs, and other GI interventions.

  • Monitor patients during procedures, administering medications as ordered and observing for adverse reactions.

  • Provide post-procedure recovery care, patient education, and discharge instructions.

  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality patient outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic while adhering to facility policies and regulatory standards.

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and changes in patient condition.

  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of endoscopy equipment while following infection prevention protocols.

Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent GI Lab or Endoscopy nursing experience preferred.

  • Current BLS certification required.

  • ACLS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.

  • Experience using Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) required.

  • Strong IV skills and moderate sedation experience preferred.

  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
