Job description

Position Title: Funeral Director
Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 / Year, DOE
This is an opportunity for a compassionate, licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer who believes families deserve patience, dignity, and exceptional care during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Working across three established funeral home locations, this person will guide families through the entire funeral process while remaining hands-on with embalming, preparation, transfers, services, documentation and day-to-day funeral home operations. The ideal candidate combines strong technical funeral service skills with high emotional intelligence, humility and a genuine desire to serve. This is a small, collaborative team where everyone steps in, details matter and doing the job right will always take priority over doing it quickly.
Responsibilities
  • Guide families through funeral arrangements from the initial meeting through the completion of services with compassion, patience and professionalism
  • Perform embalming, preparation, dressing, casketing and cosmetic preparation while maintaining the highest standards of care
  • Coordinate and assist with funeral and memorial service setup, visitations, chapel preparation and other service-related needs
  • Manage required documentation, body identification procedures, death certificates and other funeral home paperwork
  • Assist with transfers and transportation while following established team-based safety procedures
  • Work collaboratively across the Niles, Three Oaks and Cassopolis locations, stepping into different responsibilities as needed
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and contribute ideas that strengthen processes, organization and the overall experience for families

Requirements
  • Active Funeral Director and Embalmer license in Michigan, Indiana, or another state eligible for reciprocity
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education that satisfies applicable licensing requirements
  • 1+ years of funeral home or mortuary services experience
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Familiarity with funeral home management software such as SRS as well as Microsoft 365
  • Ability to safely assist with transferring and moving deceased individuals as part of a two-person team
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, communication skills, and cultural awareness with the ability to remain composed and compassionate when supporting grieving families

Benefits
  • Medical plan contribution of up to $1,000 with eligibility beginning immediately
  • Flexible PTO ranging from approximately 2-3 weeks
  • Relocation reimbursement of up to $5,000 for qualified candidates
  • Potential housing options through company-owned residences that can be incorporated into the overall compensation package
  • Scheduling flexibility that can include every other weekend off, three-day weekends or alternative scheduling arrangements depending on staffing

If you are a licensed funeral professional who takes pride in your craft, understands the responsibility families place in your hands, and wants to build a long-term career with a team that refuses to cut corners, we want to hear from you. Apply today!
