Job description

Part-Time Funeral Home Office Administrator

We are seeking a dependable, professional, and compassionate Part-Time Office Administrator to join our funeral home team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for meaningful work in a professional environment, with the potential to grow into a full-time Funeral Arranger position.

No prior funeral home experience is required. We are willing to train the right person who is organized, comfortable working with families and the public, and interested in learning more about the funeral service profession.

Responsibilities

  • General clerical and administrative duties
  • Answering phones and assisting callers in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Creating and maintaining new case files
  • Learning how to prepare and register death certificates
  • Entering and maintaining accurate information in our funeral home computer systems
  • Filing, scanning, copying, and organizing documents
  • Assisting funeral directors and arrangers with paperwork and daily office needs
  • Communicating with families, hospitals, care facilities, physicians' offices, and other organizations as needed
  • Helping maintain an organized and professional office environment

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Professional, dependable, and well organized
  • Comfortable speaking with people by phone and in person
  • Compassionate and respectful when working with grieving families
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate records
  • Comfortable learning new computer programs and procedures
