Job description

Landmark is a trusted provider of compassionate, professional funeral and memorial services. Families rely on us during their most difficult moments, and we take pride in delivering care with dignity, respect, and precision.

As part of the Landmark Funeral Group, this position supports our operating partner, William Slater II Funeral Service, where this role will be based and contribute day-to-day.

Every role at William Slater II Funeral Service supports our mission of serving families with excellence. Our team members understand that the details matter—from the way we greet a guest to the way we prepare a service space. We value compassion, professionalism, reliability, and a calm presence.
The Opportunity
The Funeral Service Assistant plays an important role in supporting funeral and memorial services and ensuring families and guests experience a seamless, respectful environment.

This is a part-time, service-focused position ideal for someone who is dependable, composed, and committed to caring for families during meaningful and emotional moments. The Funeral Service Assistant works closely with Funeral Directors and location leadership to ensure services are executed with dignity, organization, and attention to detail.
What You’ll Do

  • Welcome and assist families and guests with warmth, professionalism, and empathy during visitations, services, and memorial gatherings.

  • Prepare service areas prior to services, including arranging seating, placing floral tributes, organizing memorial materials, and ensuring spaces are clean and presentable.

  • Support Funeral Directors during services by assisting with processional coordination, guest guidance, and special family requests.

  • Escort and assist families during cemetery services as needed, ensuring a smooth and respectful transition.

  • Maintain the overall appearance and readiness of the funeral home, chapels, reception areas, and public spaces.

  • Assist with light administrative and operational tasks, including answering phones, organizing materials, and supporting daily funeral home operations.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and respect for cultural, religious, and personal traditions at all times.

What You Bring

  • Prior customer service or hospitality experience preferred.

  • Professional demeanor and appearance required.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate compassionately and respectfully.

  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (if driving is required).

Why Join Us
  • Be part of a mission-driven organization that values people and community
  • Collaborative, supportive team environment
  • Meaningful work that supports families and local communities
