Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an organized and agile Electrical & Software Project Manager based at our Counterbalance Development Center in Portland, Oregon.
This role manages both team development and revenue projects for our global Electrical, Controls, and Software organization. The team designs electrical systems, develops control systems, and writes software for a range of industrial trucks, from pallet trucks to large container handlers.
What you will do:
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of software and controls development projects, managing tasks from initial concept, through production launch, and ongoing post-launch support.

  • Regularly update and manage project plans, schedules, and resource allocation, closely monitoring progress and addressing potential challenges or risks as they arise.

  • Work closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing, and other departments to support efficient production processes and align efforts with company objectives and technological advancements.

  • Lead and mentor project teams daily, providing direction and support to guarantee successful, on-time delivery of project milestones.

  • Outstanding communication abilities, enabling clear and concise presentation of intricate technical information to stakeholders at all levels, and facilitating seamless collaboration among cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and management teams.

What you will need:
  • Education: Bachelor's in Engineering required; Master's preferred

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years industry experience

Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • At least five years of experience managing projects or programs in a technical or engineering environment, with solid understanding of product development and engineering change management

  • Experience managing project schedules, team supervision, and collaboration among multiple stakeholders

  • Understanding of human resources, budgeting, resource planning, and legal risk management

  • Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms

Preferred Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • Experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, off-road, or transportation industries.

  • Knowledge of Agile and V-model development processes.

  • Experience overseeing software or controls development by external suppliers.

  • Project management certification, such as PMP, PMI-ACP, or Scrum.

  • Knowledge of industry regulations, including functional safety and cybersecurity
