Description
Purpose of the Job:
The NDT level II inspector is responsible for performing non-destructive testing on aviation parts to ensure compliance with component manuals and technical standards and to disposition parts based on results. This role will coordinate workspace and workflow while maintaining the requirements of the repair station's quality and safety. The NDT level II inspector is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities, and ensure accurate documentation of all inspections in accordance with the relevant NDT methods and the approved technical data and procedures. The inspector must be NAS 410 or SNT-TC-1A certified level II in Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant inspections and can interpret results against applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
Reports to: Chief Inspector
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform and oversee NDT inspections using methods such as PT, MT, UT, and ET on aircraft components.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee certification of NDT level I personnel according to company policies and applicable regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, and documentation for the NDT department to present to the offsite Level III.
  • Ensure all NDT activities are properly executed and documented, and records are accurately maintained for regulatory compliance and audits.
  • Collaborate with other teams to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with technological advancements, regulatory changes, and industry best practices related to NDT.
  • Manage NDT equipment, maintenance, and procurement needs.
  • Promote a safe, compliant, and quality-driven work environment.
  • Oversee day to day shop functions including task assignments, resource allocation, and coordinate scheduling of work based on priority/available manpower to ensure timely completion work.
  • Monitor and verify the quality of work performed by technicians to ensure that inspections meet safety and performance standards, acting as an In-Process inspector when needed.
  • Involvement in the hiring of technician personnel.

Requirements
Requirements:
• NAS 410 or SNT-TC-1A certified level II in Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant inspections.
• Knowledgeable of any necessary preparation of parts before or after inspection.
Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conduct tests, and interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with procedures in all techniques in at least the Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant methods.
• Thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which he or she is qualified.
• Capable of providing OJT for trainees and other inspectors.
• Able to organize and document NDI results.
• Familiar with the codes, standards, and other regulatory documents which control the methods used by the organization.
• Current Level II certification(s) in PT, MT, UT, ET; Level III certifications is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant NDT experience, preferably in an FAA 145 repair station or aerospace environment.
• Eligible for FAA repairman's certification with an NDT rating
• Strong communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, and work with tools and equipment for extended periods. Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise and chemicals.
