Job description

Responsibilities
A Mental Health Tech assists in the direct care and management of patients across all age ranges with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team. Mental Health Tech provide assistance with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living within the functional ability of patients and with consideration for the patient's level of growth. Accompanies and actively supervises patients in activities of daily living (ADLs), appointments, and recreational activities that occur both on and off the living unit. Actively assists therapists and teachers with patients to provide therapeutic and/or educational activities. Documents patient behaviors, condition, and progress on a daily basis by recording data in the prescribed format. Provides hands-on physical care, supervision, crisis intervention, behavior management, and behavior modification as directed by the individual treatment plan and unit program guidelines.
Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. Originally a cattle ranch, the land was purchased in 1943 as part of The Brown Schools and has operated as a medical rehabilitation and behavioral healthcare facility for 80 years.
Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain and spinal cord injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.
Texas NeuroRehab Center is internationally known for improving the quality of life for many children; adolescents and adults, and it will continue to provide innovative approaches to neurobehavioral healthcare.

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Education and Training: High School diploma or equivalent, Prefer bachelor's degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development.
Licensure and/or Certification: Current CPR certification,
Experience: No minimum required, Prefer one year's experience as a nurse's aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or the equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.
Physical/General: Sustain physical activity and remain on feet throughout scheduled shift. Lifting requirements are 50 lbs and SAMA training is required.
