Job description

About Wander

Wander is revolutionizing the $100B+ short-term rental industry. We curate every aspect of the guest experienceโ€”from our smart homes to our intuitive booking platform. Our mission is to help people find their happy place, and our vision is to create the infrastructure for people to experience the world.

Our business runs on two connected products: wander.com, our guest-facing marketplace where travelers discover and book premium vacation rentals, and wander.com/os, Wander OS โ€” the operating system we're building for vacation rental property managers, giving them the tools to run and grow their business, much like Shopify does for e-commerce merchants.

Backed by top-tier investors and led by experienced startup veterans, we're a tight-knit, remote-first team united by our passion for travel, technology, and creating unforgettable experiences.

About the role

This role is in person 5 days a week at the new Austin office.

As a Senior Accountant at Wander, you'll help manage the financial backbone of two fast-growing businesses under one roof: wander.com, our consumer marketplace for short-term rentals, and wander.com/os, Wander OS โ€” our SaaS platform that acts as the "Shopify" for vacation rental property managers. You'll join a lean, high-caliber finance team and play a critical role in keeping our books accurate and our financial processes scalable as we grow both businesses.

What you'll do

  • Own the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition across both marketplace transactions (wander.com) and subscription/SaaS revenue (wander.com/os), in accordance with GAAP (ASC 606)
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for internal and external stakeholders
  • Partner cross-functionally with Revenue, Product, and Operations teams to keep accounting processes in step with new product launches
  • Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements
  • Help build and improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls as Wander scales

Qualifications

  • CPA nice to have but not required
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition for marketplace and SaaS business models
  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment preferred
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort partnering with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks) and strong spreadsheet skills
