Under general supervision, the Set Up Operator performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks involved involving the general maintenance and operations processes; and performs related work as required.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Develop knowledge of slitter set-up program
  • Generate build sheets based on production work orders
  • Build heads utilizing build sheet instructions
  • Maintain knife and rubber inventory
  • Clean slitter knives and slitter tooling
  • Set-up, maintain and repair production machines, tooling and other equipment
  • Perform routine checks of parts to ensure quality of product
  • Constant inspection of machinery, equipment, and process to ensure safety
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to use computers, read tape measures, micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to perform complete set-up and operational tasks of slitting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours/days as needed
  • Able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company
  • Able to read and comprehend simple work instructions, work orders, short correspondence and memos written in English
  • Able to write simple correspondence in English

Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Industry knowledge and experience, a plus
