Job description

Introduction
A privately owned small animal specialty hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Internist to join its expanding and highly collaborative team. This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a supportive environment that values clinical autonomy, professional growth, and a positive workplace culture. The hospital is moving into a brand new, purpose-built facility designed to deliver advanced, compassionate care with the latest in diagnostic and therapeutic technology. With a strong existing internal medicine caseload, a loyal referral base, and a culture rooted in teamwork and excellence, this position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the continued development of a thriving specialty service in one of the most desirable areas in Arizona.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full time position structured around a four day workweek, with flexibility for experienced candidates to consider a three day schedule. There are no on call, weekend, or overnight shifts, allowing for genuine work life balance. Appointment lengths are designed to promote quality medicine and client communication, typically one hour for new cases and thirty minutes for rechecks, with the ability to adapt scheduling as needed.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join the hospital's established internal medicine service, providing advanced diagnostic evaluation, medical management, and long-term care for complex internal cases. You will collaborate closely with specialists in surgery, cardiology, dermatology, and oncology to deliver comprehensive, multidisciplinary care. The incoming internist will have the autonomy to tailor their clinical approach and workflow, while also contributing to the mentorship and development of a current internal medicine resident. This is an ideal position for an internist who values independence, innovation, and the opportunity to practice high-quality medicine in a collegial, forward-thinking specialty environment.

Practice Details
The hospital provides advanced small animal care across internal medicine, cardiology, dermatology, oncology, and surgery. It maintains a highly respected residency program in internal medicine and is known for its extensive referral network and complex medical case load. The facility is equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment technology, including CT imaging, fluoroscopy, digital radiography, two ultrasound machines, endoscopy and laparoscopy towers, a Holmium laser for minimally invasive cystoscopic and lithotripsy procedures, and fully equipped surgical and treatment suites. The move into the new state-of-the-art facility will further expand the hospital's capacity to offer advanced, collaborative care within a modern and efficient clinical environment.

Team
You will be joining a dedicated team that currently includes two internists, one internal medicine resident, eight technicians, and seven additional support staff, all committed to a culture of excellence, collaboration, and compassionate care. The hospital's privately owned structure encourages open communication, innovation, and shared success, offering the freedom to practice your best medicine without corporate constraints. This is a rare opportunity to work within a specialty practice that truly values professional fulfillment, teamwork, and the wellbeing of both patients and staff.
