Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Transportation seeks to hire a Transportation Human Resources Representative to serve as a certified structured interviewer.  This position performs professional duties in the departmental selection process by conducting technical and code position interviews as well as ensuring compliance with code position interviewing regulations. 

Essential Functions
  • Under direction, serves as a certified structured interviewer for the Illinois Department of Transportation.  This position performs professional duties in the departmental selection process by conducting technical and code position interviews as well as ensuring compliance with code position interviewing regulations.
  • Creates and/or reviews interview tools prior to posting.
  • Maintains all records pertaining to the interview process.
  • Assists in the scheduling of technical and code vacancies.
  • Participates in special studies as required.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope for the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers one (1) year of human resources experience in a hiring unit as part of an interview and selection program.
  • Prefers one (1) or more years of experience utilizing personnel-related computer systems, such as Success Factors or other related Human Capital Management HCM system.
  • Prefers intermediate skill in the utilization of Microsoft programs to include Word and Excel.
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
