Full Time Tech Stack information

What are some common challenges faced when working with a full-time tech stack role, and how can they be addressed?

In a full-time tech stack role, professionals often encounter challenges related to keeping up with rapidly evolving technologies, integrating new tools with legacy systems, and managing complex project requirements across multiple platforms. To address these, it's important to actively participate in continuous learning, collaborate closely with team members from various specialties, and leverage documentation and communication tools to streamline workflows. Regular code reviews and cross-functional meetings can also help ensure alignment and promote best practices across the stack.

What is the difference between Full Time Tech Stack vs Part Time Tech Stack?

AspectFull Time Tech StackPart Time Tech Stack
Work HoursTypically 35-40 hours per weekLess than 20 hours per week
Employment StatusFull-time employeePart-time employee or contractor
CredentialsOften requires relevant certifications or experienceMay require similar skills but less experience needed
Work EnvironmentIn-office or remote, integrated into teamFlexible, often remote or freelance

Full Time Tech Stack roles involve working standard hours as a dedicated employee, often with benefits and team integration. Part Time Tech Stack positions offer flexibility with fewer hours, suitable for freelancers or those balancing other commitments. Both roles require similar technical skills, but full-time roles typically demand more experience and certifications.

What is a Full Time Tech Stack?

A Full Time Tech Stack refers to the combination of programming languages, frameworks, libraries, and tools used by developers who work full-time in technology roles. This tech stack typically includes both front-end (client-side) and back-end (server-side) technologies that enable the development, deployment, and maintenance of software applications. The specific stack can vary by company or project, but common examples include the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) or LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). Having a defined tech stack helps teams streamline development processes and maintain consistency across projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Stack Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Developer, you need proficiency in both front-end (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) and back-end (e.g., Node.js, Python, databases) technologies, usually supported by a degree in computer science or relevant experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, cloud platforms, and containerization tools is commonly required, along with certifications such as AWS Certified Developer or Microsoft Azure certifications. Problem-solving ability, effective communication, and adaptability are critical soft skills that set top performers apart. These competencies are crucial for building robust, scalable applications and collaborating efficiently across teams in dynamic tech environments.

Job description

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Location: On-Site in North Dallas (Galleria Towers) and/or Farmers Branch, TX

Position Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Based on Experience - Salary + Equity + Bonus

Citizenship Requirements: U.S. Citizens and Green Card Holders only

Position Overview

As Chief Technology Officer, you will lead the architecture, development, and execution of GrabAGun’s end-to-end technology ecosystem across eCommerce, internal operations, and the PEW Logistics platform.

This is a hands-on, builder-first role for a technical leader who has scaled systems inside high-performance environments and can translate modern technologies, including AI-enabled development workflows, into real business outcomes.

You will partner closely with executive leadership to drive innovation, increase operational efficiency, and build a scalable, secure, and compliant technology foundation that supports rapid growth.

What You’ll Own

  • Define and execute the company’s technology strategy and roadmap across eCommerce, logistics, and internal systems

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering organization, establishing best practices in architecture, development, and deployment

  • Act as a hands-on technical leader, contributing to system design, code reviews, and critical builds when needed

  • Drive the evolution of a scalable, high-availability eCommerce platform capable of handling high transaction volume

  • Oversee development and expansion of PEW Logistics, supporting manufacturers and compliance-heavy workflows

  • Build and optimize AI-driven development workflows, leveraging modern tools to accelerate engineering velocity and reduce costs

  • Partner with Finance, HR, and Operations to automate and streamline internal systems and workflows

  • Ensure security, compliance, and audit readiness across all systems (SEC, ATF/FBI considerations where applicable)

  • Establish robust data architecture and reporting infrastructure to support real-time decision-making

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage infrastructure, cloud environments, and IT systems

What You Bring

  • Proven experience as a senior technical leader (CTO, VP Engineering, or similar) in a high-growth or complex environment

  • Strong background as a hands-on software engineer, with the ability to go deep technically when needed

  • Experience working within or alongside large-scale technology organizations (“Big Tech” or equivalent environments)

  • Demonstrated success leading and scaling engineering teams and distributed systems

  • Deep understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, and high-performance web applications

  • Strong working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and system reliability

  • Practical experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., code generation, copilots, workflow automation) to improve development efficiency

Bonus If You Have

  • Experience with eCommerce platforms and/or marketplace systems (strongly preferred)

  • Exposure to logistics, supply chain, or SaaS platforms (highly preferred)

  • Background in IT infrastructure and systems management, not just software engineering

  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance-heavy environments is a major plus

What Success Looks Like

  • Engineering velocity increases through AI-assisted development and improved workflows

  • Core platforms (eCommerce + PEW Logistics) become more scalable, reliable, and feature-rich

  • Internal systems across HR, Finance, and Operations become automated, integrated, and audit-ready

  • Technology becomes a strategic differentiator, not just a support function

  • The organization is equipped with a future-proof, secure, and data-driven tech stack

Why This Role Matters

This role is critical to transforming technology into a core driver of growth, efficiency, and competitive advantage. You will directly influence how the business scales, how decisions are made, and how customers and partners experience the platform.
