The Role:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing salaried group leaders in the implementation and execution of established business processes within the production operations. This role involves fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. The work is technical in nature, requiring independent judgment within the framework of GMS, with a focus on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Must possess the ability to address complex problems and supervise a large group of salaried employees across multiple departments and processes.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
In this role, you will coach, train, develop and evaluate employees. You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems, and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations in addition to the following:
  • Maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and utilizes resources to solve quality issues.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management
  • Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union
  • Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • 3 years of experience working in an Automotive Assembly Plant
  • Ability to lead problem solving activities and leverage analytical abilities
  • Leadership/Management Experience (UAW, Salaried, Skilled Trades or similar)
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)
  • MUST have the ability to rotate between all 3 shifts
  • MUST have the ability to work overtime as needed (weekends and holidays)

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • 5+ years of experience working in an Automotive Assembly Plant (OEM)
  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
  • Production experience
  • Experience within General Assembly
  • Experience in applying quality process to support BIQ
  • Bachelor's Degree
