Job description

The Software Engineer - AgentOps Enterprise Automations is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting intelligent automation and agentic AI solutions that drive productivity, operational efficiency, and business transformation across Pearson. This role focuses on building enterprise-grade automation solutions leveraging AWS Cloud, AI Agents, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), workflow orchestration and APIs. The engineer will collaborate with business stakeholders, Solution Architects, Business Analysts to translate business requirements into scalable, governed, and observable automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Development

  • Analyze business processes and automation opportunities across Pearson business units.
  • Convert business requirements, Process Definition Documents (PDDs), and user stories into Technical Solution Design Documents (SDDs).
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise automation solutions using Agentic AI, RPA, and workflow orchestration technologies.
  • Build scalable AI-powered agents and digital workers that automate business processes and enhance employee productivity.
  • Support the operationalization of AI Agents throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, governance, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide production support, incident resolution, and continuous optimization of deployed automations.
  • Implement infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK) to automate environment provisioning and configuration.

Intelligent Automation & Integration

  • Develop solutions using UiPath, Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Python, JavaScript, APIs, OCR, and Intelligent Document Processing technologies.
  • Build orchestration workflows that combine AI agents, RPA bots, APIs, and human-in-the-loop activities.
  • Support enterprise integrations across ERP, HR, Finance, Service Management, Learning, and other business platforms.
  • Design reusable automation components and accelerators that improve development speed and standardization.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Python, JavaScript
    • SQL, REST APIs and Web Services
    • Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate), UiPath Automation Platform
  • Experience developing workflow automation, AI-assisted automation, or enterprise integration solutions.
  • Understanding of AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Agent-based architectures.
  • Experience working with enterprise databases and data integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure and cloud-native services.
  • Understanding of event-driven architectures, API integrations, and automation orchestration.
  • Experience developing, monitoring, or supporting AI-enabled solutions and digital workers.
  • Exposure to AI Agent development, prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or LLM-based applications is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Services, or equivalent AI platforms is preferred.

DevOps & Engineering Practices

  • Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket, CI/CD pipelines, JFrog Artifactory, Automated testing frameworks, DevOps and Agile delivery models

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, intelligent automation, AI-enabled solutions, or enterprise automation platforms.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver medium-to-high complexity automation or AI solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous learning mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Agentic AI frameworks and enterprise AI orchestration platforms.
  • Exposure to Agentic Operations, MLOps, or AI Operations practices.
  • UiPath Developer Certification, Microsoft Power Platform Certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar AI technologies.
  • Experience building enterprise-scale productivity, operational efficiency, or business process automation solutions.

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by factors including skill set, experience, and location. 

The full-time salary range for this role is $80,000 - $140,000.
