Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Health Information Management Scanning Clerk is responsible for scanning and closing of consultation reports, lab reports from non-interfaced labs, imaging studies from outside facilities, and other items as necessary. Position will be responsible for data entry of non-interfaced lab data and other data entry as necessary. Position will be responsible for reconciling any and all results/ consultations / studies with previously created orders. Position will follow clinic procedure / policy in instances of unfulfilled labs / imaging studies / consultations / procedures. In order to achieve desired results, one must have good keyboard speed and the ability to understand information fast.
As The Wright Center (TWC) is a teaching facility, position will be responsible for fostering and maintaining communication with administrative staff at TWC, but also with residents and attending physicians. Position will complete internal communications as indicated in the clinic policy and procedure manual. Health Information Scanning Clerk positions require data entry operators to be extra careful as feeding medical information correctly is necessary. Position will perform other duties as assigned.
This is a hybrid position and will require weekly in-office days at our Wilkes-Barre practice
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Data Manager. No other positions report to this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES and FUNCTIONS
While living and demonstrating our Core Values, the Health Information Scanning Clerk will:
  • Provide data entry, scanning and routing
  • Scan of all lab tests, x-rays, H&Ps, ER records, consult letters, internal documents (e.g., consents, opioid and Coumadin contracts), attach such results to orders, close referrals, route documents to Physician and/or NP/PA
  • Attach labs to correct orders and digitally input lab values into a trackable field
  • List open labs and address open labs in accord with WCPC policies and procedures
  • List incomplete consultations, imaging studies, and other items as directed
  • Verify open/incomplete studies through direct patient/ facility / referring physician contact in accord with WCPC policies and procedures
  • Route all reports to primary care provider in accordance with WCPC policies and procedures
  • Request medical records from outside facilities in accordance with all HIPAA and Code of Federal Regulations Title 42 Part 2 (42 CFR Part 2)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Meet The Wright Center for Community Health and its affiliated entity The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education EOSยฉ People Analyzer Tool
  • Buy in and experience working in the EOSยฎ model (strongly preferred)
  • Mission-oriented; represents the enterprise in a professional manner while demonstrating organizational pride High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Medical Technologist
  • 2-4 years' experience in a medical facility environment
  • Previous experience with electronic health record preferably Medent
  • Working knowledge of medical procedures, terminology and billing
  • Experienced in electronic medical records, including data entry, creating reports, data analysis and daily auditing of provider performance
  • Understanding of HIPAA rules
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-based, high-intensity environment
  • Computer literacy
  • An ability to work with deadlines
  • Ability to work fast and detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task
