Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic health care system and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine’s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Radiology is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

A full-time (100%) academic faculty position is available for Breast Imaging Section in the Department of Radiology. All breast imagers are dedicated exclusively to breast imaging and do not participate in the general call schedule. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.  The selected candidate will work at two UC Health breast centers, which are double accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) as Centers of Excellence. All facilities have state-of-the-art breast imaging suites including a mobile mammography unit, Hologic® equipment, Philips breast ultrasound, and PACS with integrated voice recognition software, Epic EMR, and MyChart. The Breast Imaging section has a robust clinical practice, performing approximately 30,000 studies a year.

The Section of Breast Imaging is a collegial team of breast radiologists with varied backgrounds, clinical interests, and research expertise, creating a collaborative, positive, and dynamic work environment. Our faculty are outstanding educators, with members who are either recently fellowship-trained or have more than 25 years of experience in breast imaging. The section includes nationally recognized leaders who contribute to organizations such as the ABR, ACR, RSNA, SBI, and BIFC, as well as investigators involved in ACRIN clinical trials.

The team is fully integrated and co-located with multidisciplinary breast specialists at the UC Health Barrett Cancer Center and West Chester Hospital. Faculty work closely with highly skilled technologists, breast surgical oncologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists to provide comprehensive, patient-centered breast care.

The Department of Radiology is a group of 50 radiologists established in the 1940s, which accepts 8 residents per year. The Breast Imaging section is very active in education and offers 2 Breast Imaging Fellowship positions per year. All applicants must be committed to providing exceptional clinical care and teaching.  Rank and Track will be commensurate with experience and credentials of candidate.

Essential Functions

Candidates must be comfortable with interpreting screening and diagnostic mammography including digital breast tomosynthesis, as well as breast ultrasound, and breast MRI. Physicians are expected to perform stereotactic/tomosynthesis, ultrasound, and MRI-guided biopsies as well as needle and RFID localizations. Duties will also include teaching and supervision of residents, medical students and fellows.

Minimum Requirements

Prior to the date of appointment:

  • Medical degree (MD/DO)
  • Ohio and Kentucky medical license
  • Four years of post-graduate radiology residency training
  • One year of fellowship training in Breast Imaging
