Job description

  • Leidos Engineering LLC is a premier national engineering-based management consulting firm. We are seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to join our team in Peoria or St. Louis as an Energy Engineer. The position is ideal for a person with excellent technical skills and energy engineering experience with experience in calculating energy saving estimates, energy auditing, and communicating technical issues within the project team while working closely with contractors, suppliers, architects, and project engineers.

    Location: This position is fully remote. Ameren Illinois and Leidos believe it is very important to provide employment opportunities to the utility ratepayers that reside in Illinois. Therefore, there is a strong preference for the candidate to reside in the Ameren Illinois service territory (https://www.ameren.com/illinois/company/about-ameren/service-territory (roughly the southern two-thirds of Illinois)).

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Reviewing technical energy efficiency applications for incentives and rebates for Ameren Illinois electric and natural gas customers

    • Review different types of energy using systems within the industrial and/or commercial markets (HVAC, Lighting, energy management systems, etc)

    • Research technology changes to support improvements to the energy efficiency program and provide solutions for implementation improvements

    • Maintain working knowledge of the Illinois Technical Reference Manual and associated energy efficiency concepts.

    • Review existing energy savings methods for quality control/improvements

    • Utilize independent judgment to verify technical requirements are met throughout various energy savings initiatives

    • Coordinate & Provide guidance to supporting teams regarding energy efficiency programs

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or related

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, especially Microsoft Excel

    • Must be able to work cooperatively on a technical team, along with working with non-technical team members.

    • Must have well developed communication skills and be able to express thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely in both verbal and written format.

    • Strong planning, organization, time management, and team-building skills with demonstrated ability to make unanticipated changes to production deliverables required

    • Positive, patient and friendly attitude

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Understanding of utility-offered products or services

    • Familiarity with data analytics, data QA/QC practices, and developing concise and accurate reports

    • Focus on being able to see things through customer's eyes to improve customer experience and satisfaction

    • Experience working with commercial contractors

    • Familiarity with the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) or ASHRAE Efficiency Standards

    • Experience with COMcheck, eQuest, Trane TRACE, or Carrier HAP

    • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software

    • Experience in the development and implementation of standards, procedures and guidelines for a process-oriented position.

    • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
