What is a Full Time Remote Economic Development job?

A Full Time Remote Economic Development job involves working full-time hours from a remote location to support the economic growth and sustainability of communities, regions, or organizations. Professionals in this role may analyze economic trends, develop strategies to attract businesses, manage community programs, or secure funding for development projects. The remote aspect allows individuals to perform these tasks using digital communication and collaboration tools rather than being physically present in an office. These roles often require strong research, communication, and project management skills, and may be available in government agencies, nonprofits, or private consulting firms.

What are some common challenges faced in a full-time remote economic development role, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in a full-time remote economic development role is building strong relationships with local stakeholders and community partners without frequent in-person interaction. To overcome this, professionals often leverage video conferencing, virtual workshops, and regular check-ins to establish trust and maintain open communication. Additionally, staying updated on local economic trends and adapting strategies to suit the unique needs of each community are essential. Effective time management and collaboration tools can also help ensure projects progress smoothly despite the distance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time Remote Economic Development professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Remote Economic Development professional, you need a solid background in economics, public policy, or business, often supported by a relevant degree and experience in project or community development. Familiarity with data analysis tools (such as Excel, GIS software, and economic modeling platforms), CRM systems, and sometimes grant management software is typical. Strong communication, relationship-building, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for engaging stakeholders and working independently. These abilities are crucial for driving sustainable economic growth, managing remote collaboration, and achieving measurable community impact.

Job description

Company Description
NOCD is an award-winning digital health company focused on identifying people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and managing them using evidence-based treatment. Although OCD affects over 181 million people globally, is ranked by the W.H.O. as a top 10 most disabling condition, and costs 3X more to treat than depression, over 90% of the OCD population isn't able to access effective care due to stigma and misdiagnosis. As a result, OCD patients often go untreated and suffer in silence, which is why it's nicknamed "the secret illness."
NOCD is solving this global problem by identifying OCD patients online and managing them using our evidence-based OCD treatment platform. Inside NOCD, members can access a licensed mental health professional with specialty training in OCD who can offer online diagnostic interviews, video-based teletherapy sessions, and message-based support. In between each session, members can access moderated support communities and tech-enabled therapeutic tools to ensure they have constant support whenever their provider isn't around. In an integrated model using our app, researchers at Columbia Medical Center found it to be effective in reducing symptoms of OCD.
Today, NOCD manages the largest community of OCD patients in the world. We're financially supported by 7wire Ventures, a leading healthcare-focused venture capital firm in the United States. We're changing the world and need other like-minded individuals to accelerate and expand our efforts.
