This role will pay an annual base salary of $70K to $115K (dependent on experience) plus a performance-based bonus and competitive benefits package.

The Conflicts Analyst plays a key role in supporting our client’s risk management and professional responsibility functions by conducting conflicts searches, analyzing potential conflicts of interest, and facilitating the clearance of new clients and matters. The role enables informed business decisions while helping ensure compliance with applicable conflicts and professional responsibility rules and Firm policies. The Conflicts Analyst works closely with partners, lawyers, and business professionals across a global platform and supports the Firm's broader Professional Responsibility and compliance functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct corporate and other due diligence research on prospective and existing clients and related parties, including identifying and analyzing ownership and control structures.
  • Perform conflicts searches and process new business intake requests using our client’s conflicts database and intake platforms.
  • Review conflicts search results to identify potential issues, independently assessing routine matters and escalating complex, novel, or high-risk issues to senior team members as appropriate, and facilitate the opening of new matters.
  • Liaise with lawyers and other stakeholders to communicate conflicts search results, explain identified issues, and obtain information necessary to support conflicts clearance.
  • Assist in the preparation of draft conflict waivers, consent letters, and engagement letters using Firm templates, under supervision.
  • Clearly and concisely articulate legal relationships, the nature of proposed and existing engagements, and the status of pending conflicts matters, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of conflicts and matter databases, including updating, modifying, and closing matters as required.
  • Develop a working knowledge of applicable conflicts rules, professional responsibility concepts, and Firm policies through training and on-the-job experience.
  • Exercise sound judgment and strong analytical skills when evaluating research findings and conflicts search results and determining when appropriate escalation is needed.
  • Assist with administrative functions and special projects within the Conflicts team and Professional Responsibility department, including process improvements and systems-related initiatives.
  • Provide after-hours conflicts and new business intake support on a rotating, as-needed basis in accordance with department coverage schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a law firm conflict, new business intake or professional responsibility department.
  • Proficiency in corporate and legal research using a variety of corporate and legal databases and research resources.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound business judgment, with the ability to evaluate legal and factual relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal relationships, conflicts issues, and recommend next steps clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in developing subject matter expertise in conflicts and professional responsibility rules, and Firm policies.
  • Aptitude for learning and working with new systems, including the ability to contribute to discussions regarding enhancements to conflicts and intake technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising initiative and sound business judgment, as well as collaboratively with lawyers and business professionals at all levels of a global law firm, with tact and diplomacy.
