Family owned and operated for over 80 years, Pictsweet is a frozen vegetable producer with agricultural roots. We are looking for a Refrigeration Engineer who will exercise oversight of industrial refrigeration operations in the Pictsweet plants to ensure that all systems throughout the Company are designed, operated, and maintained in a safe, effective and efficient manner. To ensure that all industrial refrigeration operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements. To manage engineering projects related to the improvement and operation of the Ammonia refrigeration system.

Responsibilities

Essential Position Functions:

  • Exercise oversight of all refrigeration operations Company-wide.
  • Ensure that all refrigeration systems are designed, operated, and maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Design and/or oversee design of refrigeration system additions or changes.
  • Ensure that all PSM programs are complete and effective.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for increased refrigeration efficiency.
  • Manage capital and deferred maintenance projects from conception through design and execution, ensuring that business objectives are met through efficient use of capital and deferred maintenance expenditures.
  • Work with personnel from other areas/departments/plants.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of refrigeration industry best-practices.
  • Provide engineering/technical support to all facilities.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential task as assigned.
  • Perform all other duties appropriate to the position as requested by the Director, Engineering.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years of professional experience in a Refrigeration Engineering role.
  • Experience in the principles and practice of mechanical engineering including thermal systems, fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
  • Experience reading refrigeration system schematics and P&ID documents

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Proficient in the design, analysis, and operation of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Familiarity with control systems and PLC's for refrigeration system automation.

Physical Environment Factors:

This position will work in a corporate office environment and will frequently be in a processing plant, which includes refrigerated and/or freezer conditions.
