Description:
Licensed Engineer - 2 Licenses (High Pressure Boiler & Refrigeration) - Rotation (Evening/Nights) - Weekends
Licensed Engineer ensures the operation and provision of Hospital utility services, heat, water, electricity, air conditioning, etc., on a twenty-four hour basis. In this role, you will ensure safe, effective utility services on a 24-hour basis across NewYork-Presbyterian. You'll take responsibility as the boiler operator for our high pressure boiler system. Ensure accuracy and safety while reviewing and reporting gas temperatures and boiler exhausts and emissions. Utilize your expertise and operate NYP's 2,000 ton chillers. Operates and monitors Boiler Room, Chiller plant and auxiliary equipment, i.e. pumps, etc. ensuring operations and safety. Makes emergency repairs, mechanical and electrical to prevent or stop interruptions of utility services. Operates and monitors associated equipment during assigned watch. Adjusts air conditioning units and/or heat depending on needs, to ensure proper temperature; checks exhaust and supply fans for proper ventilation. Maintains a daily log of any unusual conditions arising during the shift. Operates and monitors chiller operations. Monitors medical gas and associated compressed air controls; "Master Alarm System." Operate and monitors BMS for temperature adjustments and alarm notifications.
This is a full time rotation shift position. This Position is located at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
This role will rotate between evening shift (4:00 pm to 12:00 am) and night shift (12:00am to 8:00 am). It will be 4 days during the week and 1 day during the weekend.
Required Criteria
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of three years of experience working under a Stationary Engineer License and Refrigeration license
  • New York City Dept of Buildings Stationary Engineer License for High Pressure Boilers
  • New York City Fire Department Certificate of Qualification for Refrigeration Machine Operator (same as Refrigeration License)
