What is a full time recruiter?

Full Time Recruiters are professionals responsible for managing the end-to-end hiring process for organizations. They source, screen, and interview candidates to fill job openings, often working closely with hiring managers to understand the specific requirements of each role. Full Time Recruiters may specialize in certain industries or types of positions and are typically employed by a single company, as opposed to working on a contract or part-time basis. Their goal is to attract qualified talent, ensure a smooth recruitment process, and help build strong teams within the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time recruiter?

To thrive as a Full Time Recruiter, you need a solid understanding of talent acquisition, sourcing strategies, and interviewing techniques, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, and recruitment tools like LinkedIn Recruiter is commonly required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to build rapport make a recruiter stand out in attracting and engaging top talent. These skills are crucial for efficiently identifying, evaluating, and onboarding candidates who drive organizational success.

What are some common challenges full time recruiters face when sourcing candidates, and how can they overcome them?

Full Time Recruiters often encounter challenges such as finding qualified candidates in competitive markets, managing high requisition volumes, and keeping candidates engaged throughout the hiring process. To overcome these hurdles, recruiters can leverage advanced sourcing tools, build strong talent pipelines, and maintain regular, transparent communication with candidates. Networking within industry communities and collaborating closely with hiring managers also helps recruiters align on job requirements and streamline the selection process.

What is the difference between Full Time Recruiter vs Part Time Recruiter?

AspectFull Time RecruiterPart Time Recruiter

Employment StatusFull-time employeePart-time employee or contractor

Full Time Recruiters work regular hours, often with benefits, handling comprehensive recruiting functions. Part Time Recruiters work fewer hours, focusing on specific tasks or projects, usually without full benefits. The choice depends on organizational needs and budget constraints.

How to become a full-time recruiter?

To become a full-time recruiter, you typically need a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Gaining experience through internships or entry-level HR roles helps develop recruiting skills, and certifications like the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) can enhance your credentials. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and sourcing tools is also beneficial for success in this role.

Job description

GENESIS TECHNICAL STAFFING

We're hiring

Technical Recruiter

Industrial & Engineering Staffing  |  Full-Time

Genesis Technical Staffing is looking for a Technical Recruiter to lead full-cycle recruitment for skilled and professional roles across engineering, industrial, and manufacturing clients. You'll partner directly with hiring managers, build a pipeline of qualified talent, and guide candidates from first contact through the offer process. This role suits someone who thrives on relationship-building, moves quickly, and evaluates technical talent with real judgment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

•      Own full-cycle recruiting: source, screen, present, and close candidates for engineering and technical/industrial roles.

•      Partner with hiring managers to understand team structure, hiring needs, and role requirements, and act as their trusted advisor throughout the process.

•      Build and execute sourcing strategies across job boards, social media, vendor networks, and passive-candidate outreach.

•      Design custom pre-screening questions and evaluation criteria for each requisition.

•      Coordinate interview scheduling and logistics, including candidate travel when needed.

•      Deliver timely, honest feedback to candidates and hiring managers at every stage.

•      Manage offer preparation, background checks, drug screening, and onboarding for new hires.

•      Support internal promotions and transfers, including Employee Change of Status paperwork.

•      Keep the applicant tracking system accurate and current.

•      Stay current on labor market trends and compliance requirements for federal contractor recruiting.

WHAT YOU BRING

•      5+ years of recruiting experience, ideally within marine/shipbuilding, oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, or pulp & paper industries.

•      A track record of recruiting for engineering, design, finance, IT, or other technical and professional positions.

•      Strong self-direction — you prioritize your own pipeline and manage multiple open roles without hand-holding.

•      Fluency across sourcing channels: internet research, social/e-networking, targeted groups, agencies, and job fairs.

•      Solid working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

•      Sound judgment and discretion — you'll be trusted with confidential candidate and business information.

NICE TO HAVE

•      Prior experience with heavy industrial accounts: engineering firms, paper mills, refineries, or chemical plants.

•      Experience with Bullhorn or a comparable ATS.

•      Background in employee relations.

NOT A FIT FOR THIS ROLE

This position is focused on technical and industrial recruiting. Candidates coming primarily from medical, retail sales, or call center recruiting backgrounds will not be a match for this role.

COMPENSATION

Pay is based on experience. Figures referenced elsewhere in this posting are not guaranteed and should not be relied upon as final compensation.
