Job description

Direct Support Professional - Group Home for Adults with Special Needs

Minimum Qualification

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid California state’s driver’s license.
  • Must be in good health which will be verified by health screening, including a test for tuberculosis.
  • Must pass a criminal record clearance and fingerprinted through Live Scan.
  • Be a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) or must become Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within 12 months of hire date. RTB will be supervised by BCBA/QBMP.
  • New staff must have at least six months prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities, with a focus on behavioral services; and
  • Become a Registered Behavior Technician within twelve months of initial employment, or be either:
  • A licensed psychiatric technician; or
  • A Qualified Behavior Modification Professional
  • Direct Care Staff shall successfully complete both segments of the competency-based training and passage of the competency test, or pass the challenge test, prior to or within one year of employment at the Enhanced Behavioral Supports Home.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Address basic care needs of residents including but not limited to the following: medical, nutritional, hygienic, social, recreational, personal management, transportation, meal preparations, etc.
  • Address basic household needs including but not limited to the following: custodial, maintenance, schedules and routines, record keeping, documentation, etc.
  • Perform skills training with residents which include but are not limited to the following: cooking, laundry, telephone, community awareness and access, relationships, budgeting, etc.
  • Participate in the assessment process and collection of data.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of each consumer’s programs, collection and analysis of ongoing data, and other assigned documentation pertaining to each clients program.
  • Communicate with a vast array of people involved with the facility.
  • Attend required training and staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrator, CEO or Board of Directors.
  • Receive on-going supervision from BCBA (5%).

Additional Requirements

Must have at least six months prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities, with a focus on behavioral services. Possess strong communication skills. Maintain a pleasant and positive attitude. Ability to either work with a team or independently. Promote a positive working environment.
