THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an onsite position in Detroit Lakes, MN. No remote opportunities are available for this role. Lakeshirts works collaboratively with customers and a large team of artists to create, modify, and prepare artwork for production across decorated apparel techniques including screenprint, embroidery, applique, heat press, foil, acid gel, softwash, sublimation, and more.

As a Floor Support Artist, you will work under the direction of the Art Manager to support the screenprint production floor, help identify art or production issues, and uphold standards across each division. This role is a strong fit for someone who loves Adobe Illustrator, production-ready art, problem solving, communication, and keeping high-quality work moving.

PAY + SCHEDULE

Location: Detroit Lakes, MN. This is a full-time, onsite role.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:00 PM. Hours may be determined by production work schedule.

Pay: $18.00 per hour.

Growth: This role can build skills in screenprint production support, Adobe Illustrator, DTS sending, namedrops, proofing, art comps, production-ready files, lean processes, and cross-functional communication. Advancement opportunities vary by department and business need.

A TYPICAL DAY

  • Coordinate reburning screens when screens are damaged or missing from the screenprint cell.
  • Update designs as needed to follow Lakeshirts artwork and production standards.
  • Partner with production to create the best quality product for customers.
  • Record errors to support artist learning and improve production-ready files.
  • Actively reduce waste and support lean process improvements within the department.
  • Work closely with leads to uphold standards that need to be communicated with artists and production.
  • Communicate inconsistencies in standards to the Art Manager and support daily art or production needs.
  • Complete tasks such as DTS sending, namedrops, proofing, art comps, and otherduties as assigned.

SKILLS

  • 2-year or 4-year degree in Graphic Designrequired.
  • Adobe Illustratorproficiency required; screenprint, production art, prepress, or print production experience helpful.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent computer skills and a strong eye for production-ready artwork.
  • Able to multi-task, handle interruptions, and follow through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Uses independent decision making, reason, and good judgment when solving production issues.
  • Able to work well on a team and communicate clearly with artists, leads, and production teammates.
  • Reliable, responsible, flexible, and able to take direction well.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This role requires good judgment, flexibility, organization, diplomacy, reliability, communication, patience, problem solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

CONTINUOUSLY: Sit and use a computer while completing art support, updates, proofing, and communication tasks.

FREQUENTLY: Walk through or around production areas and carry materials under 10 lbs. as needed.

OCCASIONALLY: Lift, stand, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, bend, twist, crawl, reach above, at, or below shoulder height, and lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

NEVER: Lift or carry materials over 50 lbs. as an essential function of the role.
