Job description

Senior Graphic Designer - Print, Packaging, Visual Merch

Employment Type: Full-Time
Hybrid on Site in Culver

Our client, a growing consumer beauty and personal care brand, is seeking a highly creative and systems-minded Senior Graphic Designer to shape brand expression across retail, packaging, visual merchandising, and physical consumer experiences. This role is ideal for a designer who combines strong conceptual thinking with hands-on production expertise and can bring compelling creative ideas from early concept through final execution.

Reporting to the Art Director and partnering closely with senior creative leadership, the Senior Graphic Designer will translate brand and campaign strategy into distinctive visual solutions across typography, imagery, color, composition, product storytelling, and retail environments.

Key Responsibilities
Brand Design & Visual Systems

  • Develop and extend campaign key art and product-launch concepts across retail and brand applications.
  • Create scalable design systems that work across retailers, fixture formats, product categories, launches, and evergreen programs.
  • Establish clear visual frameworks for typography, imagery, color, hierarchy, product communication, and retailer-specific adaptations.
  • Help evolve visual merchandising guidelines, templates, and standards that improve consistency and execution efficiency.
  • Translate creative direction into polished, cohesive visual experiences that maintain a strong editorial point of view.

Retail & Visual Merchandising Design

  • Develop visual merchandising concepts for fixtures, displays, signage, product navigation, launches, and promotional environments.
  • Turn brand and campaign strategy into engaging in-store experiences that strengthen storytelling, shopability, and customer navigation.
  • Adapt creative across retailer-specific formats and constraints while preserving brand consistency.
  • Lead retail design programs from concept development and visualization through final production.
  • Create high-quality mockups, presentations, and visualizations that communicate creative intent clearly.

Production & Design Leadership

  • Own projects from concept through production while balancing creative ambition with print, fabrication, and retail requirements.
  • Prepare accurate production-ready files, including dielines, mechanicals, dimensions, imagery, color specifications, and final artwork.
  • Provide clear direction, templates, feedback, and quality control for production designers and external partners.
  • Review proofs, prototypes, and production outputs to ensure design quality and creative intent are maintained.
  • Contribute to packaging, print collateral, and other physical brand initiatives as needed.

Collaboration & Project Ownership

  • Partner cross-functionally with Creative, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Production teams.
  • Present design thinking and articulate creative decisions with clarity and confidence.
  • Manage multiple complex projects, timelines, approvals, and shifting priorities without compromising quality.
  • Maintain organized project files and workflows using project-management and collaboration tools.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of relevant design experience with senior-level ownership across visual merchandising, retail, environmental, experiential, or integrated brand programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated retail design, visual merchandising, campaign development, and key art.
  • Demonstrated ability to create scalable design systems-not solely individual creative executions.
  • Exceptional visual judgment across typography, composition, color, photography, hierarchy, and product storytelling.
  • Strong conceptual skills and the ability to develop original ideas while effectively executing established creative direction.
  • Deep knowledge of retail and print production, including fixtures, displays, dielines, materials, fabrication, and mechanicals.
  • Understanding of shopper behavior and how design influences navigation, storytelling, and purchase consideration.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong communication, organization, and production-accuracy skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in beauty, fashion, luxury, lifestyle, entertainment, retail, or other culturally relevant consumer brands.
  • Experience working with retail fixture, print, and fabrication vendors.
  • Background developing visual merchandising or retail brand guidelines.
  • Experience with packaging graphics and packaging systems.
  • Familiarity with 3D visualization, rendering, or environmental design tools.

What Success Looks Like

  • Elevating the creative standard and consistency of the brand's retail presence.
  • Creating scalable visual merchandising systems across retailer formats and product categories.
  • Strengthening the connection between campaign creative and the in-store shopper experience.
  • Improving retail storytelling, navigation, product communication, and shopability.
  • Delivering high-quality work that protects creative intent from concept through production.

Portfolio Requirement

Please include a URL to a portfolio showcasing relevant work in retail design, visual merchandising, campaign or key art development, scalable design systems, typography, product storytelling, and concept-to-production execution.

Benefits

  • 401(k) plan with company match
